Fox & Friends host Brian Kilmeade expressed astonishment at the latest Fox News poll suggesting that 50% of Americans support impeaching and removing President Trump.

“I was stunned to see that that’s the number,” Kilmeade said. “Because I thought that things were trending away, although the president’s approval rating did tick up in the same poll, so it’s almost like a split personality.”

President Trump dismissed the latest Fox News poll claiming that 50% of Americans want him impeached, by saying the poll (like past polls) is “heavily weighted toward Dems.”

Trump tweeted: “The Fox News polls, always inaccurate, are heavily weighted toward Dems. So ridiculous – same thing happened in 2016. They got it all wrong. Get a new pollster!”

The latest Fox News poll surveyed 1,000 registered voters between December 8-11, 2019.

The poll results produced a baffling split result: Approval for impeachment/removal rose 1% since late-October: to 50% from 49%.

At the same time, President Trump’s job-approval rating spiked 3%: to 45% from 42% in late-October.

Any poll should be viewed skeptically, but a poll simultaneously showing rising approval ratings and a mild increase in impeachment approval is bizarre.

Predictably, leftist Twitter celebrated the small uptick in impeachment approval, even though they routinely dismiss other polls showing that impeachment is imploding on Democrats.

It’s unclear what the voter makeup of the latest Fox News poll was, but a Fox News poll conducted in October 2019 was trashed by many in the media for being skewed because it oversampled Democrats.

Even Fox News host Greg Gutfeld dismissed the October Fox poll as bogus. “It’s 48% Democrats, 40% Republicans, 12% other,” Gutfeld said at the time. “So what do you expect?”

Liberal Judith Miller — a former reporter for the New York Times — says the latest Fox News poll is actually good news for President Trump.

“When an economy is this strong, the president has an enormous headwind. Democrats are well aware of that,” Miller told Fox News over the weekend. “The second issue that plagues Democrats is the impeachment taking time, energy and attention from the issues that Americans really care about: healthcare, jobs? And that’s why Nancy Pelosi, in her press conference last Thursday, went out of her way to talk about everything except impeachment.”

Overall, Judith Miller says “there is tremendous concern” among Democrats that impeachment will boomerang against them.

On his Fox News show Saturday, Greg Gutfeld mocked the sham impeachment as the first in U.S. history to be based entirely “on imagination.” Gutfeld said:

“Behold, the first impeachment ever based on imagination! As the impeachment satisfies a craven media, it keeps helping Trump in key battleground states. What does that remind you of? The last election.”

Remember, it was the media that devoted hours to bashing Trump. The result? He won! And yet the media are doing it again with impeachment, mocking Trump and his defenders while pretending this isn’t some sham. And Trump’s [approval] numbers just go up.”

Gutfeld said Democrats should look at what happened in England as a harbinger of what will happen to them in 2020, since the 2016 Brexit vote portended Trump’s unexpected win a few months later.

“It’s like the Tory landslide in England — a rebuke of rabid leftism,” Gutfeld said. “If the Dems were smart, they’d take that as a preview of what could happen here. The more the critics attack Trump, the more the prove him right.”

Gutfeld continued:  “Andrew Breitbart once said politics is downstream from culture. So this massive irrational reaction to Trump isn’t political at all, but cultural. For once, the media, academia, and the entertainment complex feel threatened. And impeachment is how the emotionally damaged fight back.”
