Elizabeth Warren gushes over Megan Rapinoe, panders with dicey lingo in cringeworthy video

It’s obvious that Senator Elizabeth Warren thought that this little video with soccer’s star kneeler Megan Rapinoe was going to earn her some votes, but it only succeeded in making viewers cringe until their jaws hurt.

The women greet each other as if they are both starstruck by the person on the other end of the line. Rapinoe even debates aloud whether she should call Warren by her first name.

Watch:

“I just wanted to call and say ‘thank you.” We need you in this battle,” Warren gushes. It’s unclear what “battle” she’s referring to, but judging by the conversation, it’s probably the battle against President Donald Trump.

In response, Rapinoe gives a meandering, uncertain answer.

“I mean, obviously I’ve been following very closely what – I mean what’s been happening in general, but certainly what your campaign is doing,” she says. “And I just think that it’s amazing. It’s big, it’s bold.”

Her next line was actually a call to abandon a moderate stance.

“I don’t think we can get to a better place by walking this moderate line,” Rapinoe told Warren.

By “moderate” the radical soccer star was likely referring to Democrat’s current frontrunner Joe Biden. Despite Biden’s steady abandonment of any sense of middle-of-the-road diplomacy, he’s still widely seen as the most moderate of the Dem contenders.

Warren continued to gush over Rapinoe and her recently being named “Sportsperson of the Year” by Sports Illustrated.

Rapinoe certainly is entitled to her opinions and is free to endorse whomever she pleases, but much of her actions fail to meet the standards many see in a reputable leader. The soccer champ was criticized heavily for her ungracious behavior after winning the World Cup.

She refused an invitation to visit the White House, claiming President Trump ‘excludes’ people like her and minorities. Rapinoe is openly gay and appeared to take a jab at Trump for being anti-gay despite evidence to the contrary.

As BizPac Review reported, Fox News host Howard Kurtz responded to Rapinoe’s divisive behavior at the time:

“But when she says ‘excluding the people who look like me’ she is obviously an openly gay athlete. This president appointed an openly gay ambassador to Germany. He said it was great.”

“She is very liberal, and she can’t stand this president,” Kurtz said. “She is using the platform, I’m sorry to say this, in some ways to mar or spoil or tar what could have been a great unifying moment.”

Perhaps it was this behavior that put off FIFA Women’s World Cup Final viewers, causing 10 million fewer to tune in than normal.

At the very end of what is already a painful video, Warren – in what can only be a desperate attempt to entice young voters – told Rapinoe “LFG.” According to Urban Dictionary, this means “Lets F****** Go” which is about the level of discourse you’d expect from these two. (Another alternate entry indicates LFG also stands for “Looking For Group,” but it’s unlikely this was the intended meaning by Warren.)

Twitter users were quick to react to the awkward, painful video:
