Dem caught watching golf on laptop during ‘very serious’ House Judiciary impeachment process

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif., has offered plenty of lip service about the Democratic Party’s “solemn” duty to impeach President Donald Trump, selling the partisan move to unseat a duly elected president as a somber occasion.

As well it should be, given that they are attempting to undo the vote of 63 million Americans.

“This is a very serious event in our country. We wish it could have been avoided,” Speaker Pelosi reportedly told Democrats at a closed-door meeting, cautioning the caucus “not to get distracted.”

Advice that apparently didn’t resonate with Rep. Cedric Richmond, D-La.

Steve Guest, the rapid response director for the GOP, posted a video on Twitter late Thursday of the Democratic lawmaker seemingly watching golf during the markup of the two articles of impeachment happening in the House Judiciary Committee.

“What on earth is Democrat Rep. Cedric Richmond watching on his laptop during this impeachment markup?” Guest tweeted. “To me, it looks like Rep. Richmond is watching the President’s Cup golf tournament. Richmond’s actions are a DISGRACE.”

In a second tweet, he added: “Zoomed in. Yep. Democrat Rep. Cedric Richmond is watching golf.”

To be clear, Richmond has declared the removal of the president to be a priority due to the “criminal enterprise” of Trump’s presidency.

“[T]his is a continuing criminal enterprise that’s going on,” Richmond said Sunday in an appearance on MSNBC. “Right now, the president is putting our 2020 presidential elections at risk. So, part of what we have to do is stop this ongoing crime.”

On Wednesday, the day Democrats began the markup process, Richmond shared an inspirational message on Twitter:

“The time has come to be the winter soldier. The time has come to show the courage of Esther,” he tweeted.

A winter soldier who takes time to sneak a peek at a round of golf or two, apparently.

Republican National Committee spokesperson Elizabeth Harrington mocked Pelosi over a previous remark about impeachment, when the speaker said, “Our tone must be prayerful, respectful, solemn, worthy of the Constitution.”

In response the clip of Richmond watching golf, Harrington tweeted: ” So Solemn. So prayerful.”

Here’s a sampling of other responses from Twitter:

Although, there were those who didn’t fault Richmond for not paying attention to the “sh*t show.”
