Laura Ingraham writes up hypothetical articles of impeachment against key House Democrats

Fox News host Laura Ingraham posited a “what if” question about Democrats in the wake of the articles of impeachment announced against President Donald Trump.

“What if the Congressional leaders could be impeached?” she asked on “The Ingraham Angle” Tuesday, posing the hypothetical question on charges that could be held against Democrats.

“So let’s say the GOP wins back the House next November and the tables are turned. What articles of impeachment could Schiff and the gang be facing?” Ingraham asked, explaining to viewers in her monologue how the Democrats should be held accountable for their own “abuse of power.”

Using the charges in the two articles of impeachment announced against Trump, Ingraham turned the claims of abuse of power and obstruction of Congress on the Democrats themselves.

“House Intel Committee Chair Adam Schiff is the one who abused power. Now, his office met with the whistleblower in August,” she said. “He didn’t reveal this to anyone until he was caught, basically. And he still hasn’t answered questions about what he knew and when he knew it.”

Noting examples during the Intelligence Committee hearings, Ingraham also accused Schiff of obstruction.

“Okay, now, if Trump can obstruct Congress without any type of court proceedings, then the Chairman of the Intel Committee can also obstruct Congress. If they’re going to play this game, then let’s play it,” Ingraham said. “He can obstruct Congress by refusing to give Republicans their rights to call witnesses, including the whistleblower. Adam Schiff, yes, guilty as charged.”

The actions of the Democratic leaders amounted to an abuse of power, the Fox News host contended, because “this sham impeachment has the effect of freezing action on other really important legislative priorities.”

She turned her focus on House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, calling her out for her part in delaying action on legislation such as the United States-Mexico-Canada Agreement (USMCA), sitting on the deal for months.

“While aid to Ukraine was delayed for a number of days, Nancy Pelosi delayed aid to you, the workers of America, via this mega trade deal, for a year. Actually, 13 months,” Ingraham argued. “All for her own, personal, political benefit.”

“Pelosi is doing harm to the country right now by withholding support for infrastructure and prescription drug bill,” she said. “The bill to lower prices of prescription drugs affecting all of us. Her party campaigned on both of those issues again. She’s doing this abusing her power merely for her own political benefit.”

Ingraham also targeted another offense, the Democrats’ invasion of privacy, citing how Schiff obtained the phone records of Trump’s lawyer Rudy Giuliani, GOP Rep. Devin Nunes, and reporter John Solomon.

“Schiff’s entire investigation was about how the president supposedly used his position of power to dig up dirt on a political opponent,” she said. “But that is precisely what Schiff himself did here. This was a fishing expedition that ensnared 3,500 pages of phone records in its wide net.”

In the end, Ingraham argued, Democrats are guilty of just what they claim Trump is charged with, echoing views expressed by her Fox News colleague Tucker Carlson.

“Well, you see the Democrats, as usual, are guilty of much of what they accuse Trump of doing,” Ingraham said. “A rank abuse of power lying and with the added bonus of invasion of privacy, obstruction of Congress. I mean, think about it? The possibilities are endless.”
