The Democratic Party’s dog and pony impeachment show trial got off to a rocky start Monday when a major disruption occurred right out of the gate.
The House Intelligence Committee’s curmudgeon chairman, Rep. Jerrold Nadler, D-N.Y., called the day’s hearing to order and had just started his opening remarks when all hell broke loose.
Owen Shroyer, a host on the far-right Infowars site, stood up and started shouting at Nadler, accused him of treason and ripping Democrats for their “impeachment scam.”
Security quickly sprang into action, as did the media in the room, corralling Shroyer and escorting him out of the room.
“Jerry Nadler and the Democrat party are committing treason against this country, and you can kick me out but he’s the one committing crimes. You are, Jerry Nadler,” Shroyer shouted. “You’re the one committing treason. America is done with this.”
“We voted for Donald Trump, and they’re simply removing him because they don’t like him,” he yelled.
All the while, Nadler was banging away with his gavel, desperately trying to regain control over the hearing.
“Order in the room. Order in the room,” he said repeatedly.
Shroyer, the host of “The War Room,” insisted that President Trump is “innocent.”
“We know who committed the crimes and it wasn’t Trump. Trump is innocent!” he said.
As noted by Getty Images, the hearing is being held to formally receive evidence in the impeachment inquiry of President Trump, whom Democrats say held back military aid for Ukraine while demanding they investigate his political rival, Joe Biden.
“The committee will come to order,” Nadler said, as Shroyer was being removed. “I shouldn’t have to remind everyone present that the audience is here to observe, but not to demonstrate, not to indicate agreement or disagreement with any witness or any member of the committee. The audience is here to observe only.”
The Infowars host posted a longer video of the incident on Twitter, including what went on outside the hearing room.

Shroyer can be heard assuring officers that he was not violent, adding: “If you want a comment, I think it’s ironic I’m the one being hauled out of here when the Democrats are the ones committing the crimes.”
He also posted a video of himself being placed in handcuffs. The caption read: “Owen Shroyer Arrested for Exercising His First Amendment Rights.”
