A new video from The College Fix found that Thanksgiving is a trigger word for leftist students attending Macalester College, a private Christian college, in Minnesota.
Asked if it is okay to celebrate Thanksgiving, many students said no and went into lefty rants on capitalism and white people.
“I think that Thanksgiving has been misconstrued a lot, especially in textbooks, and it’s kind of just based off of the genocide of indigenous people,” one student replied to the question. “And I don’t think we actually give thanks on Thanksgiving, we just eat a bunch of food and it’s just a bunch of capitalist bulls***.”
“Well the whole thing is based off the murder of indigenous people,” another student said.
Another student said Thanksgiving is just one of the United States’ many “unethical holidays.” Asked what other holidays are “unethical,” the female student replied, “Columbus Day … Christmas break, it should be labeled as ‘winter break’ in general,” she said. “Most schools are celebrating it as Christmas break.”
One student said celebrating Thanksgiving is bad, but not as bad as celebrating Christmas or Easter. The student then described himself as “pretty anti-religion.”
Another name-dropped some other bad holidays that celebrate “oppression,” July 4th being one of them. He also bravely called for Christmas breaks in school to be canceled. Asked if he himself was protesting Thanksgiving, the student revealed he was not. He said he’ll be “eating food … and watching football” with his family.

On top of students vaguely giving reasons why it’s somehow racist or insensitive to indigenous people to gather with your family, you also have college students around the country pushing back hard against opposing opinions — which is bound to be a lot of people when you don’t celebrate Thanksgiving.
At a speaking engagement, last week by conservative commentator Ann Coulter at the University of California at Berkeley, police presence was needed to control unruly leftist protestors. Videos from the night showed people trying to attend the event being blocked from entering the building and even robbed. Multiple arrests were reportedly made.
Other pundits like Ben Shapiro have faced similar protests.
Circling back to Thanksgiving, the word has become a trigger for more than just college leftists. President Trump even addressed the “cancel Thanksgiving” movement and pushed back against the political correctness push.
“Some people want to change the name Thanksgiving,” Trump said to an excited crowd in Sunrise, Florida. “They don’t want to use the term ‘Thanksgiving.’ That was true also with Christmas.”
“People have different ideas. But why it shouldn’t be called Thanksgiving? Everybody in this room, I know, loves the name Thanksgiving. And we’re not changing it,” the president added.
Trump’s words appeared to be a response to a recent Huffington Post article suggesting that people skip on turkey and airplane travel this holiday season.
