CNN’s Joan Walsh attacks President Trump, Melania’s treatment of hero dog Conan: ‘Terrifying’

If CNN contributor Joan Walsh has a say in the matter, the Democratic Party has just been given another article of impeachment in the wake of President Donald Trump’s “terrifying” aloofness toward the military dog Conan.

Hey, when hating Trump is your business, it doesn’t take much to get you worked up.

Conan, the hero dog who was injured in the raid which led to the death of ISIS leader Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi, was honored at the White House on Monday, receiving both a medal and a plaque.

Yet, Walsh opted to respond to what proves to be a proud moment for military dogs and their effectiveness by trashing Trump and the first lady, who not only selected a “macabre” coat to wear but — egad! — “moves away from Conan multiple times!”

Walsh said on Twitter: “This is terrifying. Trump and Melania exude coldness to Conan the hero dog. Melania, whose coat is slightly macabre (to me, but others may find it lovely), moves away from Conan multiple times.”

President Trump, first lady Melania Trump, and Vice president Mike Pence appeared with Conan and his handler in the Rose Garden, with the president calling Conan “a tough cookie.”

“They were going to put a muzzle on the dog, and I thought that was a good idea, but then it gets even more violent,” Trump said in his opening remarks. “But no, the dog is incredible. Actually incredible. We spent some good time with it. So brilliant. So smart.”

“Conan was very badly hurt … and they thought maybe was not going to recover,” he said. “Recovered, actually very quickly, and has since gone on very important raids.”

Walsh was so worked up over the appearance that she followed up on her first tweet with two more offerings ripping President Trump, repeating her earlier assertion that his actions were “terrifying.”

“Trump tells you how incredible ‘this particular type of dog’ is, repeatedly, but he clearly can’t remember the name of the breed or other details,” she tweeted. “He tells us he really wanted the dog to be muzzled, which tells you about his fear 2/3

“‘Conan is a tough cookie,’ we learn. Still nothing about his breed. Trump repeatedly ‘jokes’ about siccing the dog on journalists. Also, again, his command of the language rivals (maybe) a five-year-old. Terrifying 3/3.”

For the record, Conan is a Belgian Malinois, and the president did joke with the press about the dog turning on them.

“It’s trained that if you open your mouths, you will be attacked. You want to be very, very careful,” Trump said.

While the president and first lady were even criticized for not petting Conan, one thing is certain, this is a military dog trained to attack, not a fluffy pet.

For what it’s worth, the president is not much of a dog person.

According to the Presidential Pet Museum, Trump is the first president to forgo an animal companion in the White House since Andrew Johnson in the 1860s, and at a campaign rally earlier this year he said would “feel a little phony” parading around with a dog on the White House grounds.

The tweets from Walsh exposed just how deranged she is in her hatred toward the president and when she experienced backlash, she doubled down on her unhinged behavior by offering a smart-aleck apology.

“I apologize for my Tweet-thread. I should have simply said: Trump can’t form full sentences or remember what he was just told about a dog he called a hero. Pence did pet the dog, undermining claims that Trump didn’t because she’s a killer dog. And Melania looked scared, as usual,” Walsh tweeted.

Here’s a sampling of responses to Walsh’s shameless remarks from Twitter, minus the equally shameless replies from her supporters:
