“The View” host Meghan McCain said the Democrats’ flailing impeachment stunt is not convincing voters that President Trump should be impeached.

McCain’s remarks triggered her left-wing co-hosts, Joy Behar and Sunny Hostin, who had angry meltdowns.

“It’s really interesting to note that Independents are actually making this shift [against impeachment],” McCain said. “Impeachment approval ratings are down 5%, and it’s Independent voters that are responsible for this.” (see more on latest impeachment poll below.)

McCain said that she lived in Virginia and saw firsthand the enthusiastic support that President Trump enjoys around the country.

Despite the mainstream media narrative suggesting that most Americans support impeachment, Meghan said: “there are people in this country…who are not convinced that what happened was an impeachable offense.”

Meghan said the Democrats and their media minions have cried wolf too many times and catastrophized every little thing that Trump has done for the past three years. As a result, they’ve inoculated Trump against their nonstop attacks, which most people no longer take seriously anymore.

“Democrats have gotten out over their skis so many times!” McCain said. “I remember coming on this show last year thinking [Robert] Mueller had this locked and loaded. ‘Lock him up, put him in handcuffs. This is done.'”

She continued: “The problem is there is a distrust of who to believe at this point. I’ve been told time and time again, ‘[Trump is] going to jail and he’s going to get impeached.’ [And nothing has happened].”

Joy Behar interjected: “What about the Constitution? Isn’t that the bottom line? In the Constitution, I believe bribery is listed as one of the impeachable offenses by the Founding Fathers.”

McCain retorted: “I have a copy of the Constitution on my nightstand. So please don’t talk to me about the Constitution!”

Sunny Hostin, a former CNN contributor, says she believes that Trump should be impeached because he committed a bunch of vague crimes.

“The View” co-host Abby Huntsman said, “This mentality that’s going to get Trump re-elected.”

Huntsman — a Never-Trumper — added: “I’m also concerned about the precedent that impeachment sets for the future of impeaching presidents. I believe we have to have a crime committed by the president himself, and right now we aren’t there. Why not just vote him out in November if Democrats are that confident that [Trump did something wrong]?”

According to a new Emerson poll, Trump’s approval climbed 5 points to 48% from 43% in October despite the nonstop negative impeachment coverage.

More importantly, there has been a 30-point swing among Independent voters, who now OPPOSE impeachment 49% to 34%.

This is a total reversal from October, when Independent voters supported impeachment 48% to 39%.

What’s interesting about this conversation is that all of “The View” co-hosts hate President Trump and have repeatedly slammed him on their show. Despite their mutual dislike for the president, even they are conflicted about whether Trump committed any impeachable offenses.

The point of the impeachment hearings is to persuade American voters that President Trump should be removed from office.

Despite the sloppy, breathless reporting by most of the media that Trump should be impeached, Independent voters and Republicans have largely tuned out the melodramatic coverage.
