Rush Limbaugh blasts failed ‘blockbuster’ hearing; mocks ‘narcissistic nerds’ who put on the show

Rush Limbaugh eviscerated Democrats and the “self-important nerds” who starred as witnesses on the opening day of public impeachment hearings.

The conservative radio show host blasted the “sponsored mutiny” featuring William Taylor, the acting U.S. Ambassador to Ukraine, and “the bow-tied guy” George Kent, Deputy Assistant Secretary of State, during “The Rush Limbaugh Show” on Wednesday.

Limbaugh railed against the witnesses and the “flat-out boring” televised impeachment hearing which revealed “exactly what this deep state is” and unfolded before Americans who were promised a “blockbuster” opening day by Democrats.

“We have here a bunch of professional nerds who wear their bow ties and they have their proper diplo-speak and, what are they upset about? They are upset that Donald Trump used irregular channels on foreign policy,” Limbaugh said, referring to testimony from Taylor and Kent complaining about the “irregular” channel President Trump’s lawyer Rudy Giuliani was part of and how it did not help U.S. policy towards Ukraine.

“There hasn’t been a single crime announced. There hasn’t been a single impeachable offense named. There hasn’t been anything but a bunch of self-important, narcissistic, ‘we run the world’ kind of guys really ticked off that they were ignored, that they were not listened to,” he added.

Fox News host Sean Hannity, who highlighted a clip from Limbaugh’s show, agreed.

“Yikes. And all true, too,” he said Wednesday on “Hannity.”Did these guys really think that their hearsay, I heard from this person, this person, was relevant? A little shocking,  anti-climatic for sure. Is this the hill they’re now going to die on? Probably, but they’re that dumb.”

Limbaugh continued on his show to torch Taylor and Kent as “willing tools of the Democrat Party in a pure political campaign event today that is being disguised as an impeachment inquiry or impeachment hearing.” The men provided their opinion in an effort to “give the impression that they run the show, that the foreign policy, particularly with Ukraine, is theirs.”

In a fiery exchange between Taylor and Rep. John Ratcliffe during Wednesday’s proceedings, the Texas Republican confronted the witnesses, demanding to know “where is the impeachable offense” in Trump’s July 25 phone call with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky.

“But the irony is that everything they claim Trump has done that’s wrong are things the Democrats have done, things that [former President Barack] Obama has done,” Limbaugh continued on his show Wednesday.

“So now we’ve got two guys basically conducting a mutiny with the assistance of the Democrats on this committee. And the sole complaint is that Donald Trump is exhibiting misconduct because he doesn’t know what he’s doing. And he doesn’t know what he’s doing because he’s not using these guys. He’s not using their channel. He’s not using the inter-agency group, and he is not continuing the foreign policy of the Obama administration,” Limbaugh argued.

He made it clear that Kent and Taylor were acting like “self-important nerds who do not understand how they are seen, do not understand how their work is perceived by people.”

“They are from a different world, and it’s a world where they think they are in charge. It’s a world they think they run,” Limbaugh said. “They don’t get to determine foreign policy. But in their world, they do. In their world, they are in charge of foreign policy. They believe in their own superiority. They believe in their own competence and importance with a complete cluelessness.”
