Trump rails against the media and their DC allies: ‘I caught the swamp. I caught them all.’

President Trump slammed the media that “really shaped my behavior” while declaring to reporters that he “caught the swamp.”

The president spoke to reporters Friday before departing the White House for a political event in Georgia, leveling scathing criticism of the anonymous whistleblower and slamming the media for its part in perpetuating “phony stuff.”

Trump’s remarks on the “swamp” were sparked by a question from CNBC’s Eamon Javers about his reaction to comments from billionaire Leon Cooperman who said he shouldn’t run for reelection if he won’t change his behavior.

“You’ve really shaped my behavior, because, from the day I came in here, I’ve had problems with phony stuff, like a phony dossier that turned out to be false, like false investigations that I’ve beaten,” Trump replied. “So a lot of my behavior was shaped by the fake news and by the other side. That was a lot of my behavior.”

“The fact is that we created the greatest economy in the history of our country, with all of that stuff going on behind me, nobody else could have done it. Rush Limbaugh said he doesn’t know a man in the world that could have done what Trump did,” the president continued.

“I don’t know Leon Cooperman, but whoever Leon Cooperman is, I know of him, he can have his own view, but in the meantime, I’m making him rich and I’m making a lot of other people rich, including the working man and woman,” he added.

“They’ve never done so well as they’ve done right now. Our jobs are the best they’ve ever been. Everything about our economy is just about the best it’s ever been, including unemployment,” Trump said, turning his comments to focus on the “corruption” he has had to deal with.

“So I think in light of all of the things going on, and you know what I mean by that: the fake news, the Comeys of the world, all of the bad things that went on, it’s called the swamp… you know what I did? A big favor,” he told reporters.  “I caught the swamp. I caught them all. Let’s see what happens. Nobody else could have done that but me. I caught all of this corruption that was going on and nobody else could have done it.”

He touted the positive accomplishments under his tenure and had a blunt message for Cooperman, the Omega Advisors founder who said he would support fellow billionaire Michael Bloomberg for president even though the former New York City mayor has not officially declared he is running.

“On top of that, we have the best economy, greatest economy we’ve ever had, the best job numbers we’ve ever had. African-American, Asian-American, Hispanic, the best ever. So I think we’ve done a great job. And tell Leon, who I’ve seen but I don’t know, tell him congratulations because he did very well with Trump.”

The president also took aim at the whistleblower whose complaint about his July phone conversation with the president of Ukraine sparked the Democrats’ House impeachment frenzy. Trump called out the “fake” whistleblower and suggested his lawyer be “sued, maybe for treason.”

“So the whistleblower is a disgrace to our country,” the president said.

“And the whistleblower, because of that, should be revealed. And his lawyer, who said the worse things possibly two years ago, he should be sued and maybe for treason. Maybe for treason, but he should be sued. His lawyer is a disgrace,” Trump said, referring to Mark Zaid, the vocal anti-Trump critic who had tweeted back in 2017 that a “coup has started” and that there is a “rebellion” going on to impeach Trump.

The president called Zaid a “sleazeball,” during his Wednesday night rally in Louisiana.
