Mitt Romney’s family had a bit of fun this Halloween with the recent news that the Utah senator had been hosting an alias Twitter account for years under the name “Pierre Delecto.”
Romney’s oldest son, Tagg, took to Twitter to post a photo of Romney’s grandson, Thomas, in a “Pierre Delecto” costume for Halloween. The costume included a fake mustache, tuxedo, beret, and a name-tag that read “Pierre Delecto” with the name “Mitt Romney” crossed out.

Romney himself took the costume in good humor tweeting that it was “great” and joking that his grandson is now out of his will.

One of the most bizarre political stories of 2019 is definitely the reveal of Romney’s secret Twitter account. Slate reporter Ashley Feinberg discovered the account last month after Romney dropped hints about having an incognito account in an interview with The Atlantic. The account appeared to be used for self-promotion and to criticize fellow Republicans.
Speaking to press about the account, Romney gave a bizarre explanation for why it existed that made little sense.
“I like what I like … I follow a lot of people as a way to keep up with the news and I, you know, followed 600 or some odd people, 700. Just a way to have a private account to see what’s going on,” he said.

Following the reveal of the Twitter account, Romney faced criticism from fellow conservatives, including President Donald Trump and Sarah Sanders.
The president used Romney as an example that the Republican Party needs to fight harder while speaking to the press at the White House.
“The two things they have: They’re vicious and they stick together,” Trump said of Democrats. “They don’t have Mitt Romney in their midst. They don’t have people like that.”
Sanders called Romney a “disservice to the party and to the country” while speaking at Politicon last month.
“I think he’s more focused on his own political ambitions instead of moving the country forward. And I don’t think what he’s doing is productive or helpful or meaningful,” she said.
The senator’s grandson seemed to put a good spin on the story for some people though. The costume inspired plenty of humorous reactions on social media:

Nothing more 2019 than dressing up as Grandpa’s twitter name for Halloween. https://t.co/lcBE3c4gR0

Mitt Romney’s grandson dressing up as his grandfather’s twitter alter-ego is probably my favorite meta halloween costume of all time. https://t.co/HyWgqNx2QS

This is exactly what I pictured the inside of a Romney home would look like.
