An Antifa domestic terrorist was sentenced to almost six years in prison, after taking a deal and pleading guilty to second-degree assault during violent demonstrations June 29 in Portland, Oregon.

A masked Gage Halupowski brutally attacked a man, Adam Kelly, who was coming to the aid of another who was being assaulted by a group of Antifa rioters.

Halupowski was just one of many black-clothed protesters who were recorded hitting and pepper-spraying Kelly. Halupowski and two other attackers delivered vicious blows to the head of Kelly with expandable batons that resulted in a concussion and opened up severe gashes to his scalp, requiring 25 staples, according to The Oregonian.

One of the videos showing the attack on Kelly was in a June tweet by the Portland Tribune …

The Oregonian reported, “Court documents show that a Portland police officer saw Halupowski hit Kelly, followed him and pointed him out to other officers who helped arrest him. He was accused of punching another officer in the arm while being taken into custody.”

Before pleading guilty to one count of Assault in the Second Degree, Halupowski also faced charges of Unlawful Use Of A Weapon, Interfering With A Peace Officer, and Attempting To Commit A Class C Felony. His jail booking profile also listed Resisting Arrest and Attempting To Assault A Police Officer.

Halupowski remained silent in court on Friday as Kelly sat in the gallery behind him.

The prosecutor stated that another person has been indicted and that still more people are under investigation in the same attack as well as other incidents during the June Antifa demonstrations.

The Oregonian reported …

Multnomah County Deputy District Attorney Melissa Marrero said Halupowski hitting Kelly in the back of the head with an expandable baton was “completely unexplainable, completely avoidable and didn’t need to happen.”

She said Kelly and Halupowski both were lucky that Kelly survived his injuries.

Defense attorney Edward Kroll said Halupowski made “a really terrible decision” and that Kelly didn’t deserve what happened to him, but the attorney believed the agreed-upon 70-month prison sentence was “one of the harshest sentences I’ve seen for someone with no criminal background and young age.”

Kroll admitted that the evidentiary videos capturing the attack by Halupowski and others basically left the 24-year-old with only the option of taking the plea deal that was offered him.

The savage assault came during the same protest in which reporter Andy Ngo was attacked and beaten “almost to death.” The Oregonian reported at least eight people were injured that day, including three police officers.
