Proud Boys sentenced to 4-years in prison for fight with Antifa; judge blames leader McInnes

Two members of the Proud Boys, a pro-free-speech, pro-liberty fraternity frequently maligned by the media as a “white supremacist” group, received prison sentences of four years each Tuesday from a Manhattan judge over an incident involving Antifa that occurred last year.

“Justice Mark Dwyer gave Maxwell Hare, 27, and John Kinsman, 40, terms that were six months above the minimum for the caught-on-camera skirmish near the Metropolitan Republican Club after Proud Boys founder Gavin McInnes delivered a speech,” the New York Post reported.

“Both defendants faced as much as 15 years. They were convicted last August at trial of attempted gang assault, attempted assault and riot stemming from the Oct. 12, 2018, melee.”

Dwyer reportedly rejected a request by the prosecutors for a lengthier sentence on the grounds that McInnes, a conservative commentator, deserved the bulk of the blame.

“It’s a shame when some people jump up and down on a platform, and their followers, their soldiers, get into trouble,”  he said in court. “I’m not sure the most moral responsibility belongs to these two defendants.”

He also made a bizarre reference to the political brawls that erupted in 1930s Europe prior to the start of World War II: “I know enough about history to know what happened in Europe in the ’30s when political street brawls were allowed to go ahead. We don’t want that to happen in New York.”

Last October in Manhattan, McInnes, the Proud Boys’ founder, delivered a speech at the Metropolitan Republican Club. The otherwise noncontroversial event drew the ire of Antifa, a radically left-wing troop that some have likened to domestic terrorists.

Following the conclusion of the event, members of the Proud Boys, including Hare and Kinsman, were captured on camera assaulting a group of Antifa protesters blocks away from the Metropolitan Republican Club.

At the time of the altercation, two sets of video evidence emerged.

The first showed the assault occurred after an Antifa member lobbed something at Hare, Kinsman, and other Proud Boys members. The group has a history of using milkshakes made of quick-drying cement to attack and harm those with whom they disagree.

While the footage seemed to indicate that Antifa started the brawl, other footage emerged soon after allegedly showing the Proud Boys appearing to initiate the assault seconds before the left-wing protesters actually threw anything.

McInnes has long claimed and continues to argue that Antifa initiated the attack and Hare and Kinsman had simply been defending themselves from it.

“Six Antifa ambushed two Proud Boys. This was made very clear by the police,” he said in a YouTube statement posted after Monday’s sentencing.

“The six Antifa jumped them, threw a bottle of piss at them. Max ran up, ripped their masks off. Then the rest of the Proud Boys came around the corner. Two of the six Antifa ran away. Four stayed. They got beaten up by the Proud Boys for picking a fight.”

He also addressed the judge’s bizarre remarks about political brawls in 1930s Europe.

“The judge said basically called me Hitler and said he’s sentencing these guys because it reminds him of 1930s Europe political brawls. He’s saying that he has to sentence these guys to prevent World War 3. That’s f–king insane. This is pure clown world,” he said.

“The fake news is leading to real sentences. The left picks fights. The left started this. The left said we’re gonna beat the s–t out of everyone wearing a MAGA hat, and they do it regularly, and regularly they get away with it. When we defend ourselves, when we stand our ground, we go to prison. What the f–k is going on!?”

McInnes was not wrong about there being an abundance of incidents involving Antifa-affiliated thugs harassing and/or attacking anyone with a “Make America Great Again” hat and anyone with conservative political opinions, regardless of their age.

Around the same time that the incident in Manhattan occurred, over in Oregon an Antifa thug was captured on camera verbally harassing a Sept. 11 widow.

And ironically, it was a member of the Proud Boys who came to the widow’s defense.

Watch:

Rarely are these thugs ever held accountable, though it does sometimes occur. Earlier this month one Antifa thug copped an 18-month plea deal for assaulting and nearly killing a 56-year-old Trump supporter during an incident last year.

The plea deal received scant media attention. The same may be said of almost every incident involving left-wing activists, including when they spit in a Trump supporter’s face and when they beat one minority to a pulp for wearing a MAGA hat.

The media appear to prefer focusing their attention on Proud Boys members like Enrique Tarrio, a brown-skinned Cuban minority whom they claim is a “white supremacist.”
