Former Dem Party chair rips ‘useless’ Tom Perez for failing to come close to RNC coffers

DNC Chairman Tom Perez was torched by a former state Democratic Party chair over the party’s failure to compete with Republicans in fundraising efforts.

Democrats are becoming more “alarmed” by the Republican National Committee and President Trump’s ability to haul in record-setting donations, with more than $300 million raised this year for Trump’s reelection bid, according to Politico.

With the 2020 Democratic contenders proposing far-left agendas and the crowded field of candidates still busy trying to stand out from the pack, Trump has left his rivals in the dust, surpassing his Democrat rivals again in fundraising for September, according to Federal Elections Commission reports.

And Perez has earned condemnation from his own for failing to rally Democrats amid Trump’s growing massive war chest, which saw an incredible $125 million haul for the third quarter.

Perez has come under fire for not doing more to defend against Trump’s attempts to take out former Vice President Joe Biden. While Democrats expected more involvement, Perez did not see it as the DNC’s job.

Dick Harpootlian, a former DNC member and two-time South Carolina Democratic Party chair, slammed Perez in a scathing rebuke for endangering Democrats while Trump is settings fundraising records even though he is facing an impeachment inquiry.

“Tom Perez is as useless as tits on a boar hog,” Harpootlian declared.

“My advice to Tom Perez is quit, get out of the way or do something different,” the Biden supporter added. “Maybe they need to send a spy to the Republican shop and find out how they’re raising hundreds of millions of dollars off of a guy like Donald Trump.”

According to Politico:

Trump has nearly twice as much cash on hand — $158 million, between his campaign account and the RNC — as Barack Obama and the Democratic National Committee had at this time in his successful re-election run.

Already this year, Trump’s campaign operation has spent close to $23 million on TV and digital advertising, more than 10 times the amount that the lone major Democratic super PAC spending against him, Priorities USA, has laid out so far in its online-only spending campaign.

“The resources he has will be put to work anywhere and everywhere that he feels like he can scare up electoral votes, and Democrats will never catch up. It’s just too much money,” Democratic strategist Chris Lippincott said. “That’s real trouble … I’m not here to curse the dark, but it’s dark.”

Rufus Gifford, former finance director for Obama’s 2012 re-election campaign, sees similarities between that bid and Trump’s current position.

“We were sophisticated, we were organized, and we were well-funded. This is everything the Trump operation is. Taking away his craziness, he has an extremely professional operation,” he said.

And while Democratic strategists and pundits continue to weigh in on the GOP’s fundraising, and the DNC’s lackluster challenge under Perez’s leadership, Harpootlian’s brutal criticism of the committee chair raised plenty of eyebrows on social media.
