If you thought the feud between failed presidential nominee Hillary Clinton and current Democrat presidential candidate Tulsi Gabbard was spicy, try again.
An even spicier feud erupted on Twitter early Saturday morning when former Fox News host turned NBC talk show host turned temporarily unemployed journalist Megyn Kelly clapped back at ABC News political analyst Matthew Dowd for talking trash about her.
In a since-deleted tweet posted on Friday morning, Dowd drew a disturbing equivalence between Kelly — who was let go from NBC last year for suggesting that it’s OK for children to emulate other races on Halloween — and her former NBC colleague, accused sexual abuser Matt Lauer.
“I really don’t want to hear from either Matt Lauer or Megyn Kelly,” he wrote. “Can’t they just fade away and enjoy their large pot of money?”

Lauer returned to the spotlight at the start of the month by releasing a denial letter concerning the sexual abuse allegations against him, and Kelly returned soon after by appearing on FNC’s “Tucker Carlson Tonight” to talk about the situation at NBC.
When Kelly learned of Dowd’s tweet the next morning, she fired back with double barrels by reminding him of her long-standing activism for abused women.
And in response, he doubled down on his incendiary rhetoric by asking her why she never took a stand for sexual assault hoaxers like Christine Blasey Ford and Anita Hill, not to mention the dubious women who’ve thrown accusations at President Donald Trump.
Look:
Yes, I could just sit back and “enjoy my money,” @matthewjdowd, but instead I’ve chosen to speak up for women being harassed and abused who have been muzzled by NDAs. Sorry you find that so annoying. https://t.co/Fy86s5QTsF

Megyn, i am all for that, and if you read my feed you would know that. However, did you stand up for Christine Blasey Ford, Anita Hill, and all the accusers of President Trump? Also, i know you are blasting NBC, but i don’t see you saying much about Fox.

Kelly replied by pointing out that she had interviewed some of the president’s accusers during her stint at Fox, and reminding Dowd (and hopefully everybody else in the partisan media) that it’s not a real journalist’s job to “stand up” for anyone.
In response, Dowd, a political commentator and strategist, first claimed that he has more objectivity than Kelly, a professional journalist, and then insulted Fox News and finally wished her “well” …
Look:
.@matthewjdowd – umm, there is a whole movie about me standing up for the women at Fox. & I put Trump accusers on the air. Also my job as a reporter was not to “stand up” for Blasey-Ford. It was to report fairly on her w/o taking a side. You should try it sometime. https://t.co/lLnOCSrm0I

By the way, I devoted an entire chapter of my book to the harassment scandal at Fox and discussed it on virtually every network. It was a NYT #1 Best Seller. You should read it! #settleformore https://t.co/lLnOCSrm0I

Megyn, i wish you well. I would put my objectivity up against yours any day of the week. You worked at Fox News.
— Matthew Dowd (@matthewjdowd) October 19, 2019
Stunningly, Kelly interpreted the snide remark as an apology.
“I think the words you’re looking for are ‘I’m sorry, I was wrong.’ Apology accepted!” she wrote.
Dowd responded by deleting the original tweet but not actually apologizing.

@megynkelly I deleted the original tweet. No matter how right I feel, it is not the loving way I want to be in this world. We have enough meanness and coarseness in the world today, I strive to do better each day. I do wish you well and hope we can heal instead of hurt.
— Matthew Dowd (@matthewjdowd) October 19, 2019
I am all for less meanness in the world. We’re good @matthewjdowd. https://t.co/ovF9XLyEo9
— Megyn Kelly (@megynkelly) October 19, 2019
Onward. Thank you for that.
— Matthew Dowd (@matthewjdowd) October 19, 2019
That was certainly anti-climactic …
But though Kelly chose to let Dowd off the hook, as of Sunday morning he was continuing to be pilloried on Twitter for his stunning “arrogance” and “bias.”
“Arrogance and bias is not objectivity,” one Twitter user wrote.
Fact-check: TRUE.

@matthewjdowd Deleting your tweet DOES NOT apologize to @megynkelly for lumping her in w/ *Matt Lauer*. Your hatred for @FoxNews + @realDonaldTrump oozes from your pores EVERY DAY. Apologize, man. #TeamMegyn #Trump2020

Listening to Matt Dowd over a period, he has never been known to be objective. If you have watched him closely, he spin and lies. Megan Kelly was right, a reporter job is not to “take sides”, but to report fairly & let the audience make their judgment. Something he doesn’t know.

The guy working for ABC which edited film from Kentucky and tried passing it off as Syria, knowingly I might add, is making fun of Fox News. I’d say self reflection is in order, but by his little spat with Kelly, that clearly isn’t in his skill set.

Because, Matt, your objectivity is a self-delusion unaffected by anything you “report”. The fact that Ms. Kelly took the amount of grief that she did when she was ~at~ FOX (which was apparent to viewers ~at the time~) is a testament to her objectivity.

The feud comes amid both ABC News’ recent stunning blunder vis-à-vis the situation in Syria, and the ongoing feud between Clinton and Gabbard that was sparked after Clinton peddled a disturbing conspiracy theory about the 2020 contender.
Dowd has of course chosen to be one of the lone figures to side with Clinton:
Tulsi attacks Hillary Clinton and defends Assad. That is all you need to know. https://t.co/ZFhO5j48yV
