ABC’s Dowd starts war with Megyn Kelly: Why can’t she and Matt Lauer shut up, enjoy their large pots of money

If you thought the feud between failed presidential nominee Hillary Clinton and current Democrat presidential candidate Tulsi Gabbard was spicy, try again.

An even spicier feud erupted on Twitter early Saturday morning when former Fox News host turned NBC talk show host turned temporarily unemployed journalist Megyn Kelly clapped back at ABC News political analyst Matthew Dowd for talking trash about her.

In a since-deleted tweet posted on Friday morning, Dowd drew a disturbing equivalence between Kelly — who was let go from NBC last year for suggesting that it’s OK for children to emulate other races on Halloween — and her former NBC colleague, accused sexual abuser Matt Lauer.

“I really don’t want to hear from either Matt Lauer or Megyn Kelly,” he wrote. “Can’t they just fade away and enjoy their large pot of money?”

Lauer returned to the spotlight at the start of the month by releasing a denial letter concerning the sexual abuse allegations against him, and Kelly returned soon after by appearing on FNC’s “Tucker Carlson Tonight” to talk about the situation at NBC.

When Kelly learned of Dowd’s tweet the next morning, she fired back with double barrels by reminding him of her long-standing activism for abused women.

And in response, he doubled down on his incendiary rhetoric by asking her why she never took a stand for sexual assault hoaxers like Christine Blasey Ford and Anita Hill, not to mention the dubious women who’ve thrown accusations at President Donald Trump.

Look:

Kelly replied by pointing out that she had interviewed some of the president’s accusers during her stint at Fox, and reminding Dowd (and hopefully everybody else in the partisan media) that it’s not a real journalist’s job to “stand up” for anyone.

In response, Dowd, a political commentator and strategist, first claimed that he has more objectivity than Kelly, a professional journalist, and then insulted Fox News and finally wished her “well” …

Look:

Stunningly, Kelly interpreted the snide remark as an apology.

“I think the words you’re looking for are ‘I’m sorry, I was wrong.’ Apology accepted!” she wrote.

Dowd responded by deleting the original tweet but not actually apologizing.

Look:

That was certainly anti-climactic …

But though Kelly chose to let Dowd off the hook, as of Sunday morning he was continuing to be pilloried on Twitter for his stunning “arrogance” and “bias.”

“Arrogance and bias is not objectivity,” one Twitter user wrote.

Fact-check: TRUE.

See some of the continuing criticism below:

The feud comes amid both ABC News’ recent stunning blunder vis-à-vis the situation in Syria, and the ongoing feud between Clinton and Gabbard that was sparked after Clinton peddled a disturbing conspiracy theory about the 2020 contender.

Dowd has of course chosen to be one of the lone figures to side with Clinton:
