Rove says Hillary needs to put up or shut up – she has lost it with ‘Russian asset’ allegations

Karl Rove has blasted Hillary Clinton for her accusation that presidential hopeful Tulsi Gabbard is a Russian asset.

“Put up or shut up,” Rove said of Clinton during a Friday appearance on Fox News’ “The Story with Martha MacCallum.”

Rove challenged Clinton to provide evidence of her extreme accusation or “go away.” He also went after the former secretary of state for claiming that Jill Stein is a Russian ally in the same interview.

“She’s either got to come forward with the evidence of the bots in the platforms or the sites that are being used on behalf of Gabbard,” the former George W. Bush senior advisor said. “She has to come up with the evidence of Jill Stein was a Russian asset. Tell us who proved that that was the case. Or better yet, just shut up or go away. This is just appalling.”

Rove went on to call Clinton’s rhetoric “outrageous.”

“And she better either prove them, give the evidence to the FBI if she believes it. Or if [the allegations are] actually true, give them to the American people,” Rove said.

“Hillary Clinton has either lost it, and if she hasn’t lost it, then put the evidence out there and let all the American people judge whether or not this is true,” he added.

Democratic strategist Robert Zimmerman also appeared on “The Story” to stump for Clinton and to defend her accusations against Gabbard and Stein. He did the usual Russia conspiracy theory song and dance.

“It’s an important fact check,” Zimmerman said of Clinton’s “Russian asset” accusations. “It’s sounding the alarm. This news may be stunning to Donald Trump. Maybe it’s stunning to Karl Rove, but every one of the intelligence directors in the Trump administration have pointed out that Russia deliberately attacked our democracy for the purpose of hurting Hillary Clinton and supporting Donald Trump.”

During a Wednesday appearance on the “Campaign HQ with David Plouffe” podcast, Clinton said of Gabbard: “I’m not making any predictions but I think they’ve [Russians] got their eye on somebody who is currently in the Democratic primary and are grooming her to be the third-party candidate. She’s the favorite of the Russians.”

“They have a bunch of sites and bots and other ways of supporting her so far,” Clinton continued. “That’s assuming Jill Stein will give it up, which she might not because she’s also a Russian asset.”

Gabbard fired back with a fiery response — a response praised by Fox News’ Greg Gutfeld — on Twitter where she called Clinton a “warmonger.”

“Great! Thank you @HillaryClinton. You, the queen of warmongers, embodiment of corruption, and personification of the rot that has sickened the Democratic Party for so long, have finally come out from behind the curtain,” Gabbard tweeted. “From the day I announced my candidacy, there has been a concerted campaign to destroy my reputation. We wondered who was behind it and why. Now we know — it was always you, through your proxies and powerful allies in the corporate media and war machine, afraid of the threat I pose.”

“It’s now clear that this primary is between you and me,” she added. “Don’t cowardly hide behind your proxies. Join the race directly.”
