Climate change activists in London are causing quite a disturbance with their demonstrations, and it appears people have had enough of it.
Protestors for Extinction Rebellion — a group that has clashed with police over the last several days — tried disrupting commuter train service in London on Wednesday morning. Gathered crowds, most of them just trying to get to work, were not having the public displays of lunacy. Some took to physically removing protesters from the tops of the train cars.
Like many videos out of the London protests, videos of the train incident are really quite astonishing. In one video two protestors are trying to yell at a crowd from the top of a train, but they are greeted with objects being thrown at them. One of them is physically pulled down, and the other is chased across the top of the train by another frustrated commuter who eventually wins out and forces the man to the ground.

Commentator Katie Hopkins posted a video to her Twitter account thanking the “brilliant” commuters who fought back against the demonstrators.
“I just want to say a huge thank you to those brilliant commuters today,” Hopkins said. “We’re sick and tired of being messed around by the Extinction Rebellion idiots.”
She added that she hoped the protestors who were pulled from the top of the trains were given a “crafty pummeling whilst no one was looking.”

Commuters were reportedly shouting at the protestors. “I need to get to work, I have to feed my kids,” one Londoner reportedly said. While that’s a statement most people would respond to, these protestors have completely lost touch with reality.
One commuter shouted “I need to get to work, I have to feed my kids,” when the protestors initially went up.

Other videos of angry commuters show an Extinction Rebellion protestor literally gluing herself to a commuter train. Commuters are clearly angry at the woman, and she responds by acting as if ruining their day is okay because, you know, she’s saving the planet from mass extinction and all.
“Because it’s heading for the city, which is the god of our time … humanity, the planet is crucifying itself on economic growth.”

Plenty of folks took to social media to call out the Extinction Rebellion protestors and their choice to target working-class people, which is clearly not a great image for their cause.
Like, I get the point #ExtinctionRebellion are making and yes, protest often needs to be uncomfortable, but my dudes, the tube is public transport. Low emission public transport. This is not your target audience. People are now taking cabs. ??

#ExtinctionRebellion on trains ?
1. These are working people. Do you want them on your side or not
2. This and the conceptual dance bollocks make you seem like middle class delusionals.
3. Target those in power. Punch up not down
4. Ur tactics not ur cause is what’s wrong

Honestly. How many extra cabs were used today because of this? Stopping an electric train. Amazing. Today has been stupid. I’m lucky I can work from home so I’ve avoided XR so far. I don’t support them at all. I support change, but this isn’t who to target in order to get it.

All coming across like a bunch of nut jobs – they don’t care about the environment they just care about getting some attention and their 15 mins of fame – we all realise there is much to be done but this is not helping whatsoever

Over a thousand people have been arrested during the Extinction Rebellion protests in London and over 100 people have been charged with crimes. The protests have caused so much disruption to the public that police have taken to banning demonstrations in certain parts of the city, which ER is currently trying to fight in court.
None other than 16-year-old climate change activist Greta Thunberg has encouraged the protestors to defy police and “break the rules.”
