‘Don’t tempt me’: Americans brace for Clinton-Trump rematch as signals begin to emerge

With all the doom and gloom in the media over the Democratic Party’s partisan effort to impeach President Donald Trump, his supporters could use a little good news and Hillary Clinton could be on the cusp of delivering it.

There is growing speculation that the two-time failed presidential hopeful is about to take a third crack at breaking the proverbial glass ceiling, prompted in part by a reply to a tweet from the president.

Trump goaded Clinton in a tweet, challenging her to run again, under one condition.

“I think that Crooked Hillary Clinton should enter the race to try and steal it away from Uber Left Elizabeth Warren. Only one condition. The Crooked one must explain all of her high crimes and misdemeanors including how & why she deleted 33,000 Emails AFTER getting “C” Subpoena!” the president tweeted.

Clinton responded: “Don’t tempt me. Do your job.”

Not only is Clinton delusional about her chances to beat Trump, but she’s also still struggling to come to terms with the results of the 2016 election.

In an interview with “PBS NewsHour” host Judy Woodruff, Clinton added fuel to the fire of a potential run.

“Maybe there does need to be a rematch. I mean, obviously I can beat him again,” she said.

As a reminder to Hillary Clinton, who calls Trump an “illegitimate president,” he won the Electoral College vote, 304-227.

The remark came after Woodruff mentioned the president’s tweet — Clinton was on with daughter Chelsea, plugging their new book together.

“It truly is remarkable how obsessed he remains with me,” Clinton said. “But this latest tweet is so typical of him. Nothing has been more examined and looked at than my e-mails. We all know that.”

“But just seriously, I don’t understand,” Clinton continued. “I don’t think anybody understands what motivates him other than personal grievance, other than seeking adulation. I said during the campaign, there was no other Donald Trump. What you saw was what you were going to get, and I think a lot of Americans understandably thought, oh, no, that can’t possibly be the case. Once he’s in office, he will certainly moderate his behavior. Well, we see, no, he hasn’t.”

 

Former San Francisco Mayor Willie Brown dropped a timely op-ed Saturday in the San Francisco Chronicle titled, “Who should run against Trump? How about Hillary Clinton?”

“It’s time for Hillary Clinton to come out of retirement, lace up the gloves and get back in the ring with President Trump for what would be the biggest political rematch ever,” Brown wrote.

It’s likely that Clinton is dropping hints to draw attention and drive book sales, as she has said several times that she had no intention of running again.

“I’m not running, but I’m going to keep on working and speaking and standing up for what I believe,” she told News 12 Westchester in March.

On the flip side, former White House chief strategist Steve Bannon recently predicted Clinton would run.

“I even think Hillary Clinton or Bloomberg or some centrist comes in here… She’s running. She’s just trying to decide how to fit her way in,” he told Fox Business host Trish Regan last month.

Should Hillary actually jump in, the old gang is right there in her corner… people like deranged “comedian” Kathy Griffin.

All in all, social media was all atwitter over the possibility. The excitement coming from both sides!
