Voters reveal they want Congress to focus on needs of Americans, not impeachment inquiry

Congressional Democrats may be laser-focused on impeaching President Donald Trump, but many U.S. voters have issues they consider to be far more pressing.

Fox News correspondent Todd Piro took to the streets of Manhattan for “The Daily Briefing with Dana Perino” to talk to voters about which issues they’d like to see Congress working on above impeaching the president.

“We need to focus on the wall, immigration … school tuition,” one person said during an interview in Times Square.

“Why are people sleeping on the streets when there are millions of beds across America that are wide open?” another offered.

“I would say student loan forgiveness,” another interviewee said. “I’m one of those people. There are lots of students, lots of people struggling. We need more attention to that.”

“The tax code was all within one book. Now it’s multiple volumes. I’d like to see us do kinda what Trump is doing. Let’s eliminate some of the regulations,” another voter said.

Others also expressed support for funding the border wall, which was one of the prime issues that got Trump major support in the 2016 presidential election.

Other issues are things Congress does not seem to have made a priority in any way.

“I would like Congress to focus on making tougher domestic violence laws,” one New Yorker said.

“I’d rather hear more things we are going to do for our veterans,” another person said.

The economy, jobs, and the environment are also on people’s minds. While the issues they would like to see focused on are all over the political spectrum, the common thread is that impeachment is not a top priority for many.

“If they [Congress] would put as much effort on other things as what they’re doing on the impeachment then we could get so much more done,” one person interviewed pointed out.

Piro noted that even the people who expressed support for impeachment still wanted Congress focused on other issues. He says this and people’s hunger for Congress to not be so hyper-focused is only good for Trump in 2020.

“If people vote [based on] what they’re talking about at their dinner table on Monday night before the election, I think that bodes well for President Trump,” Piro said.

While many leftists in the media and in Congress would like us to believe impeachment is all any American thinks about these days, the facts just don’t back that up.

Despite the current impeachment inquiry, President Trump just celebrated his best approval poll numbers of 2019. Polls have also found impeachment being a rather limp issue with voters usually voting in approval of impeachment at only around 35 percent.

It seems as though only politicos and Hollywood elites see impeachment as the most important issue of our time.

Take Rosie O’Donnell as a prime example of this. The actress and comedian has been one of Trump’s most outspoken celebrity critics. She recently put out a Twitter poll asking people to vote yes or no on impeachment. After more than a quarter-million votes, the majority of people voted ‘no.’ How did O’Donnell respond? She deleted the poll.
