‘Did you hear me?’ Trump loses patience, lashes out at reporter who blatantly ignores him

A fired-up, fed-up President Donald Trump exploded on a “rude” liberal mainstream media reporter Wednesday for hijacking a joint press conference with Finnish President Sauli Niinistö by asking irrelevant questions about the ongoing whistleblower non-scandal.

Instead of asking the president and his Finnish counterpart about the booming diplomatic relationship between the U.S. and Finland, multiple reporters tried haranguing Trump about congressional Democrats’ latest “witch hunt” against him.

Among the misbehaving “journalists” was Jeff Mason of Reuters, who showed such glaringly little interest in the day’s events and discussions that Trump exploded on him.

The explosion was a long time coming.

“Mr. President, I’d like to ask you about your use of the word ‘treason.’ You used it repeatedly in the last few days. Do you consider anyone who opposes you treasonous?” Mason originally asked.

The president replied by explaining that he only uses the word when his political opponents purposefully lie about him — such as, he continued, when House Intelligence Committee chair Adam Schiff read a completely fictional account of his call with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky on the House floor.

“Mr. President, can you just make clear, right here: What do you or what did you want President Zelensky to do with regard to Joe and Hunter Biden?” Mason then asked.

The president explained that he’s been worried about Ukraine’s documented corruption and 2020 contender former Vice President Joe Biden’s links to it.

“Look, Biden and his son are stone-cold crooked. And you know it. His son walks out with millions of dollars. The kid knows nothing. You know it, and so do we,” the president bluntly replied.

As seen in a transcript of the now much-publicized call between Trump and Zelensky that was made over the summer, the U.S. president had asked his Ukrainian counterpart to scrutinize credible allegations of this corruption. Moreover, the president has already explained on multiple occasions that his request had been about rooting out corruption — nothing more, nothing less.

It was at this point during the presser Wednesday that Mason started really acting up. Ignoring what the president had spent the past few minutes explaining, he repeated his previous question near-verbatim.

“What did you want President Zelensky to do about Vice President Biden and his son, Hunter?” he asked.

“Are you talking to me?” Trump asked in exasperation.

“Yeah. It was just a follow-up of what I just asked you, sir,” the “journalist” pressed.

“We have the president of Finland. Ask him a question,” the president said.

“I have one for him. I just wanted to follow up on the one that I asked you, which was –,” Mason continued unabated.

“Did you hear me? … Ask him a question. … I’ve given you a long answer. Ask this gentleman a question. Don’t be rude,” Trump tried again to get through the “journalist’s” head.

“No, sir. I don’t want to be rude. I just wanted you to have a chance to answer the question that I asked you,” Mason replied, willingly choosing to ignore the president’s previous answer.

I’ve answered everything,” Trump replied. “It’s a whole hoax. And you know who’s playing into the hoax? People like you and the fake news media that we have in this country. And I say, in many cases, the “corrupt media” — because you’re corrupt. Much of the media in this country is not just fake, it’s corrupt.

“And you have some very fine people, too — great journalists, great reporters. But, to a large extent, it’s corrupt and it’s fake. Ask the President of Finland a question, please.”

Following the altercation, other “journalists” reportedly began circling the wagon in Mason’s defense, including Fox News’ Brit Hume.

“This was a harshly worded attack,” Hume said of Trump’s explosion while speaking later that evening on “The Story with Martha MacCallum.” “He attacked Jeff Mason, you know, accused him of being ‘fake news’ and all that, when he asked a perfectly valid question.”

One that Mason still maintains that the president hadn’t answered.

“No, he didn’t answer [the question about Biden],” he kvetched Wednesday evening on CNN. “He was certainly given opportunities to do so. …”

“And it was a legitimate question. He’s been saying that his call with President Zelenski was ‘perfect,’ praising himself for having released that transcript. So I thought it was good to just get a sense right now here after that call’s happened and after all the controversy’s occurred to get a sense from him of what he really wanted. And he wanted to avoid the question.”

“I think he’s just upset and frustrated by how the impeachment inquiry is now going,” Mason added when asked about Trump’s motivation for exploding. “He lashes out at journalists. He lashes out at the media in particular when he feels under pressure, when he feels frustrated. I think that’s what he did today.”

It didn’t appear to occur to Mason that perhaps the president lashes out at the media because they routinely lie about him, lie about his administration and — as of Wednesday, sometimes act as if they’re deaf.
