Clint Eastwood flips script on fake news in new movie…warning: Lefties will lose it

Clint Eastwood’s latest directorial effort has the media in its sights.

“Richard Jewell” tells the story of one of the earliest notable victims of out-of-control government agencies and fake news.

Richard Jewell saved countless lives at the 1996 Summer Olympics in Atlanta, Ga. Working security, the man found a backpack with three pipe bombs in it. He alerted police and helped to evacuate the area. Though his actions were nothing short of heroic, Jewell was then at the center of a media firestorm. With outlets reporting incomplete and false information, Jewell was painted as a prime suspect. It didn’t help either that federal agencies went along with this narrative and did their best to make Jewell out to be guilty.

The trailer to the film, which drops in theaters on December 13, can be seen below:

Clint Eastwood has spent the last decade of his career mostly focusing his lens on real-life heroes. Films like “American Sniper,” “Sully” and “The Mule” have been some of the biggest hits of the 89-year-old’s career.

In an age of mainstream media outlets constantly being accused of spreading fake news and government agencies being slammed as politically motivated, “Richard Jewell” will be dropping at the perfect time.

“Jewell fits the profile of the lone bomber. A frustrated white man who is a police wannabe,” a reporter says in the trailer for the film.

“His accusers are two of the most powerful forces: the United States government and the media,” a Jewell defender says at another point.

The trailer echoes things currently going on in the United States.

“Clint seemed broken up about the story of Richard Jewell. It still bothered him years later,” actor Paul Walter Hauser, who plays Jewell in the movie, recently told USA Today. “He sounded like he was hurting for that family, and wanted the story to come out.”

Leftists were predictably triggered by the trailer considering its content and the fact that Eastwood is one of Hollywood’s few outspoken conservatives.

As ridiculous as those reactions sound, just remember that this movie is likely to be a major hit because Eastwood may not have critics in his pocket, but the moviegoing public supports his work on blue-collar heroes betrayed by authority.

Many have already been praising the trailer.

“Richard Jewell” stars Paul Walter Hauser, Kathy Bates, Sam Rockwell, Olivia Wilde, and Jon Hamm. It was written by Billy Ray and based on a magazine article by Marie Brenner. It hits theaters on December 13.

Jewell himself, unfortunately, passed away in 2007, but here’s hoping the victim of a corrupt media finally gets his justice when this movie drops.
