LAPD ad on pro-police Breitbart makes LAPD, leftists lose their minds

The Los Angeles Police Department was apoplectic over a recruitment ad appearing on the conservative website Breitbart News.

But it seems the LAPD — and liberals in general — have little grasp of how Google Ads work. A more troubling take is just how liberal many police departments are in America. The left has the media and education on lockdown, and are making significant gains in religion and now law enforcement, too.

The brouhaha with Breitbart was helped along by Daily Beast Editor-in-Chief Noah Shachtman, who tweeted a screenshot of the advertisement.

“Uhhhh why is the LAPD running recruitment ads on Breitbart?!” the caption read.

Looking to retain its liberal chops, the LAPD was quick to respond, dissing Breitbart News by claiming the website “creates a negative juxtaposition to our core values.”

The tweet coming just before one o’clock in the morning.

“The LAPD celebrates diversity and embraces it within our ranks, and within the city we serve. We are aware that a recruitment advertisement has been circulated on a website that creates a negative juxtaposition to our core values,” read the tweet from the official LAPD Twitter account.

Breitbart spokeswoman Elizabeth Moore told the L.A. Times that the publication is “one of the most pro-police, pro-law-enforcement news organizations in America.”

One might think L.A. police would have their hands full with thousands of homeless people living in massive tent cities, or the more than one million illegal immigrants in the area, to worry about the placement of Google Ads.

One would be wrong.

In a follow-up tweet, the LAPD announced that they have launched an “inquiry” into the matter. Seriously.

“We take matters like this very seriously, and have begun an initial inquiry into the matter and to determine its validity, as well as what future steps can and will be taken to avoid this situation occurring in the future,” the tweet read.

In fact, the matter was so serious even LAPD Chief Michael Moore — no, not THAT Michael Moore — weighed in to ensure liberals that multiple investigations are underway.

We can only hope that Moore has a better grasp of policing crime than he does of how Google Ads work.

“No. LAPD did NOT purchase or otherwise acquire ad space on that website. Senior leadership at LA City Personnel Department also relayed they did not authorize or pay for this ad either. Both Depts s investigating whether spoof/other effort to discredit LAPD,” he tweeted.

The LAPD’s personnel department also got involved, announcing that they have “stopped the Google Ads altogether.”

Bert Huang, an assistant professor of computer science at Virginia Tech, told the New York Times the appearance of the ad on Breitbart is likely due to an algorithm used by third-party ad placement services.

“They pay for multiple ad placement companies to manage their ads and essentially say, ‘Here is the content on our website,’” Huang said.

“It might just be that Breitbart had some keywords on their home page that matched what the L.A.P.D. has requested their ad to appear in,” he explained. “In that scenario, through no direct intent from the L.A.P.D., it could have been inevitably matched.”

Google spokeswoman Alex Krasov told the newspaper advertisers have the option “to exclude specific websites or entire topics from their campaigns.”

“Google has policies for where ads in the network can appear and it gives advertisers additional controls over where their ads show,” she noted.

The LAPD may have just gotten an education on how the internet works.

Not that you can expect liberals to follow along. Instead, they see this as an opportunity to spew their hatred of law enforcement. Ignorant of the fact that just 30.9 percent of the force is white, they claim the LAPD is a bunch of white supremacists.

Liberal police departments around the country should pay closer attention to how they are perceived by those they eagerly try to embrace.
