Homan on explosive clash at hearing: ‘I’m not gonna sit there and let them tell lies about my president’

Retired ICE Director Tom Homan does not regret his confrontation with a House Democrat during a hearing on immigration and border detentions.

In fact, Homan declared he is “not gonna shut up” while Democrats continue to smear President Trump and immigration officials, speaking out on “Fox & Friends” on Friday following a fiery clash with Rep. Pramila Jayapal.

The former U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement Director locked horns with the Washington Democrat during a House Judiciary Immigration and Citizenship Subcommittee hearing on Thursday as she repeatedly cut him off while he attempted to defend the Trump administration’s immigration policies against falsehoods by Democrats.

Homan pointed a finger at Democrats for the failures leading to the current immigration crisis as Jayapal, the committee’s vice chairwoman, banged the gavel and told him his time was up. The heated exchange escalated as a furious Homan informed the congresswoman, “You work for me!”

“Tom, you work for us,” Fox News co-host Brian Kilmeade joked as he welcomed Homan, now a Fox News contributor.

Homan was confident he got his point across during the contentious hearing.

“I got to say everything I had to say but I had to force it. I mean I had to keep interrupting them,” he said.

“I’m under oath and I’m not gonna sit there and let them tell lies about my president, tell lies about the men and women of the Border Patrol and ICE,” he added, saying it was his “responsibility to set the record straight.”

“At a certain point it’s like, no, I’m not gonna shut up … Just because you have a gavel, doesn’t make you queen of the day, it doesn’t allow you to lie to the American people,” Homan declared, referring to the Democrat congresswoman who took part in an anti-Trump protest outside of the White House where her colleague, Rep. Rashida Tlaib, led a chant with a controversial call to “impeach the motherf****r.”

“You need to be held accountable. They’re not under oath. I find that incredible,” he said, adding that lawmakers are not allowed to lie to the American people.

“I’m not going to tolerate it,” he said emphatically, pointing out how Democrats “want to forget” their behavior under the Obama administration and the double standard they are applying when it comes to Trump and his immigration policies. He confronted Jayapal on the hypocrisy directly at Thursday’s hearing.

“Look, you want to know why there’s 50,000 people in detention? You want to know why there are a million illegal entries into the United States? You want to know why we have these issues? Because you have failed to secure the border,” Homan said. “You guys failed to work with this president to close the three loopholes we’ve asked for two years to close.”

He noted that “six out of eight years” under Obama the federal agencies did the “same thing” that Democrats are now vilifying Trump for now.

“I didn’t see hearings on that … That is misleading the American people. That’s a false narrative they continue to push,” he said. “And I’m not gonna sit there and let them get away with it.”

“Yeah, I’m angry,” Homan added. “Because children are dying, 31 percent of women are being raped, cartels are getting rich. You complain about detention conditions, you complain that there’s 55,000 people in detention. It’s your fault, look in the mirror!”

He slammed Democrats further for doing less to secure America’s borders than the foreign governments of nations like El Salvador and Mexico.

“That’s a sad day in America when foreign countries are doing more to secure our borders than the Democratic leadership in Congress,” he said. “It’s pathetic!”
