Shepard Smith throws first punch at Tucker Carlson in on-air Fox News host war – and it’s ugly!

Fox News host Shepard Smith was outraged by a guest’s comment on colleague Tucker Carlson’s show and let him know it on live television.

Smith took a swipe at the host of “Tucker Carlson Tonight” on Wednesday, calling out the “repugnant” comment by his guest, former U.S. Attorney Joe diGenova, who called Judge Andrew Napolitano “a fool.”

The Fox News anchor came to the defense of the network’s judicial analyst while taking a shot at Carlson for letting it go unchecked. His rant sparked a scathing comeback from the primetime show host who shredded him later in the evening.

Napolitano had appeared on Smith’s show Tuesday and called President Trump’s admission about a phone call to the president of Ukraine a “crime.”

“The president admits that on the phone call with the president of Ukraine he requested that the president of Ukraine investigate his 2020 political rival, Joe Biden,” Smith said to Napolitano. “Is that a crime?”

“It is a crime for the president to solicit aid for his campaign from a foreign government,” Napolitano had replied. “Yes.”

Later that same day, Carlson asked diGenova about the remark and he disagreed, calling out Napolitano in the process.

“Well, I think Judge Napolitano is a fool,” diGenova told Carlson. “And I think what he said today is foolish.”

Smith, a vocal critic of the president, was miffed by the remark and took the airtime on “Shepard Smith Reporting” to call it out.

“Last night on this network, during primetime opinion programming, a partisan guest who supports President Trump was asked about Judge Napolitano’s legal assessment,” Smith said Wednesday, making sure to emphasize the words in a condescending tone.

“And when he was asked, he said, unchallenged, Judge Napolitano is a fool,” he continued. “Attacking our colleague who’s here to offer legal assessments on our air in our work home is repugnant.”

The criticism of diGenova and the not-so-veiled shot at Carlson were followed by a list of comments from  “other legal minds whom we trust” and that just happened to agree with the anti-Trump Napolitano.

Smith cited quotes from criminal defense attorneys and prosecutors as examples of those who also believe Trump violated the law, like former assistant U.S. attorney in the Justice Department, Alex Little, who told Smith that Trump’s alleged request “likely violates the election law prohibitions on seeking foreign assistance from foreign governments.”

Critics relentlessly attacked Trump over the call and its alleged contents in the wake of a whistleblower complaint alleging he made a “promise” to the Ukrainian president as he urged him to investigate Joe Biden’s son Hunter who, since 2014 when his father was vice president, served on the board of a gas company in the nation.

But the unfounded accusations against Trump were nowhere to be found as the White House on Wednesday released the transcript of the president’s July phone call with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky.

Just as Trump had asserted, there was no evidence of any quid pro quo as his critics, like Smith and Napolitano, had been alleging.
