28% Dems say NRA should be illegal; 32% agree with ‘terrorist’ title

Democratic Party views on the National Rifle Association are the focus of a new survey by Rasmussen Reports.

According to the national telephone and online survey, “nearly one-out-of-three Likely Democratic Voters (32%) favor declaring the gun rights group a terrorist organization in the community where they live.”

The NRA has over 5 million law-abiding Americans as members, who recognize the God-given right to defend themselves, as guaranteed in the Second Amendment of the U.S. Constitution.

But to many Democrats, these Americans are terrorists.

Somewhat surprising, 14 percent of Republicans responding agreed — that’s one out of every seven.

Liberal officials in San Francisco have already publicly declared the NRA a domestic terrorist organization, blacklisting any vendors or contractors linked to the pro-Second Amendment group.

“All countries have violent and hateful people, but only in America do we give them ready access to assault weapons and large-capacity magazines thanks, in large part, to the National Rifle Association’s influence,” reads the resolution in part. Apparently protecting the right to due process before restricting a person’s Constitutional right to bear arms now makes one a terrorist.

“The NRA exists to spread disinformation, and knowingly puts guns into the hands of those who would harm and terrorize us,” said Catherine Stefani, the supervisor of San Francisco’s board of supervisors. It is currently unclear what – if any – empirical evidence she had to support this claim. And no, liberal fear-mongering and talking points aren’t going to suffice in court.

Fortunately, the NRA is suing San Francisco and its radical Board of Supervisors over the unanimous vote. The resolution accused the NRA of using “its considerable wealth and organization strength to promote gun ownership and incite gun owners to acts of violence.”

NRA chief Wayne LaPierre’s statement on the NRA lawsuit against San Francisco can be seen here:

According to Rasmussen, 28 percent of Democrats say Americans should be prohibited by law from belonging to pro-gun rights organizations like the NRA.

That view was shared by 15 percent of Republicans.

The survey showed that among all likely voters, 23 percent favor declaring the NRA a terrorist organization, while 18 percent think it should be against the law to belong to pro-gun rights groups like the NRA.

By making NRA membership illegal, the stage is then set to jail those who belong to the group.

More from Rasmussen on the survey results:

Eighty-two percent (82%) of Democrats and 64% of unaffiliated voters want stricter gun control, compared to 45% of Republicans. But 57% of all Americans believe stricter enforcement of existing gun control laws is more important than putting new gun control laws on the books.

Fifty percent (50%) of voters share a favorable impression of the NRA; 44% do not. This includes 30% with a Very Favorable view of the group and 33% with a Very Unfavorable one. These views are virtually unchanged from March of last year.
