Leftist obsession with vilifying the National Rifle Association and passing pointless laws banning law-abiding citizens from owning firearms has reached a new level.
The San Francisco Board of Supervisors voted on Tuesday to declare that the NRA is a “domestic terrorist organization.”
Despite the NRA promoting no violence and only giving support to those who lawfully use their guns within their rights, the board claims the group arms and incites violent individuals.
“There are over 393,000,000 guns in the United States, which exceeds the country’s current total population,” the pointless resolution reads in part.
In continues by taking a predictable shot at President Donald Trump.
“Our elected representatives, including the President, have taken an oath swearing to ‘support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic,'” it reads.
“The National Rifle Association musters its considerable wealth and organizational strength to promote gun ownership and incite gun owners to acts of violence,” it goes on to say.
It later states that the city of San Francisco should do everything in its power to drive out the National Rifle Association and anyone remotely connected to them.
“The City and County of San Francisco should take every reasonable step to assess the financial and contractual relationships our vendors and contractors have with this domestic terrorist organization; and, be it … that the City and County of San Francisco should take every reasonable step to limit those entities who do business with the City and County of San Francisco from doing business with this domestic terrorist organization; and be it … that the City and County of San Francisco should encourage all other jurisdictions, including other cities, states, and the federal government, to adopt similar positions,” it reads.
The resolution is little more than grandstanding, but it still shows the disconnection from reality that extreme anti-Second Amendment leftists have.
Oakland-based Fox affiliate KTVU-2 quoted a statement from the NRA calling the resolution out.
“This ludicrous stunt by the Board of Supervisors is an effort to distract from the real problems facing San Francisco, such as rampant homelessness, drug abuse and skyrocketing petty crime, to name a few. The NRA will continue working to protect the constitutional rights of all freedom-loving Americans,” the statement reads.
Despite the resolution mentioning the Constitution, it completely ignores the Second Amendment. It also makes no mention of the fact that many mass shooters acquire their guns illegally. It also doesn’t mention how many crimes legal gun owners stop.
What’s scary about this “domestic terrorist organization” position is how loosely it defines the term. Antifa is in the streets assaulting people on video, and we’re supposed to believe that a private organization consisting of law-abiding gun owners should be designated as a domestic terrorist organization?
This is also only the latest descent into liberal chaos for San Francisco. Tucker Carlson recently covered the city changing its official wording when it comes to criminals.
Carlson reported on Fox News that juvenile delinquents are now referred to as “young people impacted by the juvenile justice system” under new “person first” language guidelines adopted by the city Board of Supervisors.
“Those who control your words control your mind,” Carlson warned viewers.
