Failed GOP presidential candidate and former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush has managed again to anger both liberal Democrats and conservative Republicans. How? By mocking President Donald Trump with a Hurricane Dorian-related retweet.

The retweet from documentary filmmaker Billy Corben consisted of a viral video of a Palm Beach man suggesting that the military just drop some ice in the water to stop the devastating storm.

“All this warm weather and warm water … we have a Navy,” the man says. “Why don’t the Navy come and drop ice in the warm water so it don’t, so it can’t get going as fast as it’s going?”

Watch:

The idea was based on the fact that storms like Dorian need warm water to grow.

“These storms need warm, warm water and it’s using all the surface water to keep it up,” Tampa station WTVT notes. “As it’s using all that water, water from underneath comes up and it’s cooler down below … it just causes the storm to weaken.”

When Corben originally uploaded the video to his Twitter feed on Sunday, he captioned it with the words, “Donald Trump’s new FEMA administrator. Because Florida.”

It was meant to mock the president over a refuted viral mainstream media report from a week ago claiming that the president had suggested the government stop potential hurricanes by dropping a nuke on them. The report was based on anonymous sources.

On Monday, Bush retweeted the whole tweet and added his own caption: “I love my State.”

And just like that, the left and right pounced — though for vastly different reasons.

Naturally, members of the right were annoyed with Bush for disrespecting the president and giving his own deceased mother, former first lady Barbara Bush, a bad name.

“And the [picture of rat] comes scurrying out looking for trouble you trying to get another beating JEB!” one critic wrote. “From @realDonaldTrump we know all of your friends knew what Comey and his hit crew were up too better hope your fingerprints are not on anything.”

“How in the world you can retweet this clown, listen I love you family but when you do things like this dont look nice !. Jeb always doing sonething to harrest this administration, you didnt win so get it, can you Ego ever slow down?” another critic added.

Look:

The left’s anger, on the other hand, was motivated by something entirely different. One, they resented his longtime refusal to accept the Democrat Party’s climate change dogma.

While Bush has acknowledged the existence of climate change, he’s made it clear that he believes the solution is technological innovation, not government intervention. And this nuanced perspective therefore makes him a proponent of ignorance, or so his liberal critics say.

The left also took issue with his longtime promotion of school choice, a policy proposal that Democrats have falsely labeled as being “anti-education.”

Look:

As of Tuesday morning, the president himself hadn’t yet responded either to the original tweet by Corben or the retweet by Bush. If and when he does, though, you can rest assured that it’ll be “savage,” especially given that Dorian had already killed at least five people and left countless more effectively homeless.
