Controversial Representative Rashida Tlaib, D-Mich., on Friday tweeted a head-scratcher about the death of 17-year-old Jewish Israeli girl named Rina Shnerb.
While she initially decried the incident as “absolutely tragic & horrible,” she immediately linked the attack to “Israeli occupation.”
This is absolutely tragic & horrible. My heart goes out to Rina’s family. More than ever we need to support nonviolent approaches to ending the Israeli occupation and guaranteeing equal rights for all. Extremism that puts innocent lives at risk moves us no closer to peace. https://t.co/lQ4qrYf6ig

Critics on Twitter were quick to call out the congresswoman for her tone-deaf response.
Democrats love to use the deaths of others for their personal gain.

Please ??♂️the amount of negotiating the Israelis engaged in with you people, you could have dismantled the Austro-Hungarian empire & put it back together again. Your Hamas knows it will never win a war against Israel, which is why it targets Israeli civilians. Cowardly scum.

This is vile! Have you no shame? How dare you blame the murder of this beautiful teenage Israeli girl #RinaShnerb on the ‘occupation’? Can you not just blame the Palestinian terrorists that took her young life? This only underscores Israel was right to deny you entry! pic.twitter.com/eZWWh0Ij8o

The Palestinians murdered innocent civilians when there was a left wing government in Israel too. Infantilizing the Palestinians as if they are not responsible for their own actions is bigotry of low expectations.
The Nazi drift in Palestinian society “might” have a role here too pic.twitter.com/Y1ZBm361YI— NotTheSameHeb (@ekek113new) August 24, 2019
The Israeli military is investigating the incident — a bomb blast that occurred while Shnerb hiked with her family near the Dolev settlement — as a terror attack, according to Daily Mail.
Hamas leader Ismail Haniyeh praised the death of the teen, though the terror organization has not claimed responsibility.
Rabbi David Eitan, 46, and 21-year-old Dvir — Rina’s father and brother, respectively — were confirmed to have been involved in the blast as well and are both reported to be in serious condition.
The slain teen’s sister spoke at her funeral, which was attended by a large crowd of mourners. “This is insane, everything that’s happening here,” she said. “I still can’t believe it. Only yesterday you were here, joyful as always, you were happy and made everyone happy, as you always do.”
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu sent his condolences to the family while also issuing a serious warning to terrorists who seen to injure and/or kill Israelis, saying: “The long arm of Israel reaches all those who seek our lives. We will continue to strengthen settlement. We will deepen our roots and strike at our enemies.”
