Piers Morgan may be a liberal, but he is not too pleased with the modern left.
Appearing on The Daily Wire’s “The Ben Shapiro Show,” Morgan gave liberals the hard truth and broke down why populism is on the rise around the world.
“Populism is rising because liberals have become unbearable, and I speak as a liberal, okay?” Morgan said to host Ben Shapiro.
He added, “In my core I’m probably more liberal than not, although, fundamentally, I see myself as a journalist, and I like to see both sides of all of these things.”
Morgan argued that modern liberals have become “utterly, pathetically illiberal.” He called this a “massive problem.”
The British journalist said the modern “snowflake culture” and “victimhood culture” demands that liberals don’t allow anyone to have a different point of view.
“Everyone’s offended by everything, and no one’s allowed to say a joke,” Morgan added.
As an example of this, Morgan brought up comedian Kevin Hart who faced major backlash when he was recently announced as the host of the 2019 Academy Awards. The thing people were angry about was a joke he told years before they now found offensive. Hart backed out of the gig and the Oscars aired without a host.
Morgan argued that going down the path that extreme liberals are taking leaves us in a world where no human being can express themselves because “humans are flawed” and liberals are unwilling to accept this. If liberals really get rid of everything they argue against, Morgan said only half-joking, then there won’t be award shows altogether or creativity or even art.
“The liberals get what they want,” Morgan said about this dystopian future, “which is a humorless void where nothing happens, where no one dares to do anything, or laugh about anything or behave in any way that doesn’t suit their rigid way of leading a life.”
“No thanks,” Morgan said to that scenario.
The ex-“America’s Got Talent” host said it is this nowhere-future that turns people off from modern liberalism and turns them toward populism, which also explains the popularity of President Donald Trump.
“People are fed up with the PC [political correctness] culture,” Morgan said.
While Morgan admits he doesn’t agree with everything populism or forceful personalities like Trump have to offer, he said he “can understand it.”

Piers Morgan: "The Left Have Become Unbearable".
— Turning Point UK (@TPointUK) August 19, 2019
Modern liberalism, Morgan said, is just a “version of fascism” as it offers only aggression and punishment to those who dare to disagree with it.
He said liberals think it’s fair to ruin someone’s life, scream abuse at them, get them fired from their job, and get them hounded by family and friends, as long as that person is someone they disagree with.
Morgan, who won a season of Trump’s “The Celebrity Apprentice,” saying these things carries far more weight than when a conservative says it. For a liberal to be able to see the fascism that is becoming core to the modern left means there is not just a problem for the right, but a problem for everybody.
