‘Biden 2020 … America Needs a Nap’: The Five mocks dull Dems’ make us ‘boring again’ strategy

Joe Biden’s presidential campaign isn’t exactly energizing the Democrat base. While name recognition has helped the former vice president lead most polls, some more recent polls have indicated people are losing faith in the gaffe-generator.

The hosts of Fox News’ “The Five” broke down the 76-year-old’s lifeless presidential campaign following reports that the former vice president may be cutting back on his public appearances due to him making numerous mistakes when speaking. Greg Gutfeld even offered up a biting slogan for Biden’s 2020 campaign that perfectly summed up the man’s low-energy style: “Biden 2020: America needs a nap.”

Jesse Watters kicked things off by playing footage from a rally where President Donald Trump took down most of the Democrat candidates, including Biden, a politician he noted might be able to “limp” across the finish line.

Trump mentioned at one point that he’s not too worried about his competition because none of them are offering the economic boom he has created.

“Whether you love me or hate me,” the president said, “you gotta to vote for me.”

On the subject of Biden, Dana Perino called the strategy of having Biden do less “probably good.” She noted that the former vice president’s poll numbers only started slipping when he started “doing more appearances.”

“Now, I don’t think that speaks well to the idea of how he would do mano-a-mano against President Trump,” Perino added about the strategy.

Perino also noted that swing voters will decide the 2020 election and they will likely see Trump as their best option, even if they don’t personally approve of the man.

Jesse Watters also noted at one point that the Democrat candidates seem to be contrasting themselves with the president by offering to be more “boring” alternatives — in other words, they are offering to be candidates citizens won’t need to be thinking about all the time.

Juan Williams said Trump’s constant attacks against people and institutions he feels are a threat to America is giving people “Trump Anxiety Syndrome,” so the strategy of offering a more calm and laid-back approach to the presidency might be a winning one.

“I think the opposite of what Republicans call Trump Derangement Syndrome, which they attach to anybody who is concerned about Trump, is Trump Anxiety Syndrome,” Williams said.

He continued, “And I think the psychologists and psychiatrists have all said, ‘yes, people are more anxious with Trump in office.”

Williams then noted that the president publicly went after the Federal Reserve and Reps. Rashida Tlaib and Ilhan Omar in just the last week alone.

“It never stops with this guy,” Williams said of Trump, “and so of course people are going to say, ‘we’d like to get back to normal.'”

“I just don’t know if that’s an inspiring message,” Watters responded.

Greg Gutfeld, who also hosts Fox News’ “The Greg Gutfeld Show,” then jumped into the debate to take down frontrunner Biden with just a few simple words.

“Biden 2020: America needs a nap,” Gutfeld said to laughter from the other hosts.

Just as Trump’s “Sleepy Joe” nickname has stuck to the former vice president, Gutfeld’s mock campaign slogan may end up sticking to the man too. Folks took to Twitter to celebrate Gutfeld’s witty retort to Biden.
