Democratic socialist Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez reacted to President Donald Trump’s tweet saying she’s “fuming” because her peers — Congresswomen Ilhan Omar and Rashida Tlaib — are overshadowing her, by tweeting a smiley face.
The mini-drama erupted after Trump stirred the pot by tweeting: “Like it or not, Tlaib and Omar are fast becoming the face of the Democrat Party. Cortez (AOC) is fuming, not happy about this!”
Tlaib and Omar have made numerous headlines this week amid reports that Israel had considered blocking them from entering the country due to the duo’s long history of anti-Semitism. For once, AOC was not at the center of self-created controversy.
By tweeting a smiley face in reaction, Ocasio-Cortez suggested that she still thinks she’s the de facto leader of today’s Democratic Party, and isn’t worried about being upstaged by anyone.

President Trump also slammed Rashida Tlaib for concocting an inane PR stunt that ultimately backfired on her.
Trump tweeted: “Israel was very respectful and nice to Rep. Rashida Tlaib, allowing her permission to visit her ‘grandmother. As soon as she was granted permission, she grandstanded and loudly proclaimed she would not visit Israel. Could this possibly have been a setup? Israel acted appropriately!”
Trump rebuked Tlaib after she “obnoxiously turned down” Israel’s offer to allow her to visit, and said Tlaib’s grandmother was the real winner in this debacle. “She doesn’t have to see [Rashida] now!”
Rashida Tlaib is being criticized by both sides for her shameless stunt. “The Five” co-host Greg Gutfeld slammed Tlaib for using her grandmother “as a prop” in another one of her showboating antics.
“She wrote a letter saying she dearly needed to see her very old grandmother,” Gutfeld said. “And Israel approved. And then she said, ‘Ah, you know what? I’m not going to do it.’ So she used her elderly grandmother as a prop for a stunt.”
He added: “Let’s not forget the trip that she was planning on going was planned with an anti-Semitic group.”

Gutfeld said Tlaib’s refusal after Israel graciously invited her to visit her grandmother proved that Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu acted responsibly in this instance.
“If someone is going to your house specifically to vandalize it or destroy it, you shouldn’t have them there,” Gutfeld said. “She used her grandmother as a Trojan horse to get in. It’s disgusting.”
Predictably, Greg’s left-wing co-host, Juan Williams, disagreed and called President Trump’s actions “outrageous.”
“President Trump going to a foreign country and saying that a member of our Congress can’t travel to your country? It’s outrageous,” Williams said.
Juan continued: “He wants to make these four somehow the face of the Democratic Party.”
Actually, it’s not Trump who’s making the Squad the face of the Democratic Party; it’s the squad members themselves. Unfortunately for Democrats, the Squad’s numerous showboating PR stunts have stolen attention away from the party’s 2020 presidential candidates.
Even worse, the Squad is diverting attention from pressing legislative issues that Congress needs to address, such as the illegal immigration crisis, the opioid epidemic, and homelessness across the United States.
