With the 2020 election fast approaching, it seems Trump-mania is sweeping the nation.
Even in Baltimore.
Enthusiasm for reelecting President Donald Trump takes many shapes, the latest being a large banner unfurled at a Baltimore Orioles baseball game.
Of all places to display the red, white, and blue “Trump 2020” banner featuring the words “Keep America Great,” the president’s supporters chose Camden Yards in downtown Baltimore — yes, the stadium is in Rep. Elijah Cummings’s district.
According to Baltimore Sun beat reporter Jon Meoli, who shared a photo of the banner online, some fans began chanting, “Take it Down!”
“The banner has not been well-received,” he added.

Ya’ think?
President Trump called parts of the district a “disgusting, rat and rodent-infested mess,” so it’s not any surprise that locals did not appreciate the banner.
The Trump supporters dropped the banner in the eighth inning, in a game the hometown team would lose 11-2 to the visiting Toronto Blue Jays — the Orioles aren’t faring much better than many residents in Cummings’ district, sitting in last place in their division with a 36-72 record.
Fittingly, it came as a Baltimore player hit a homerun, according to Sportsnet baseball columnist Shi Davidi, who tweeted fans were “distracted by Trump 2020 banner unfurled by a fan in second deck.”

As seen in the video here, there was a smattering of boos as cops arrived to remove the fans displaying the banner — the boos coming after they took a curtain call of sorts.
On a positive note, it appears the four fans may not be facing any serious problems from the stunt, as seen in another tweet from reporter Jon Meoli.
He tweeted: “Four people were escorted out of the stadium by police and stadium officials, but judging by the handshakes as they left the ballpark, seems like it won’t go beyond that.”

For what it’s worth, Meoli cited the team’s website to report Camden Yards policy is that no banners can be hung anywhere in the stadium so as not to obstruct other fans’ views of the game.
The policy states that “banners are subject to confiscation if the content is commercial, political, and/or in bad taste according to the Orioles’ discretion.”
It’s not clear if the Trump banner was confiscated.
There was some disputing whether a “Take it Down” chant actually took place, but it can be heard in a video shared on YouTube — half-hearted as it is.
Here’s a sampling of responses from Twitter, including those who say they did not hear a chant:
But the orioles policy doesn’t prevent an LGBTQ night..

Well, one benefit of the Orioles’ terrible season is that not many people were there to see it.

Shut it down chant should be towards the Baltimore Sun

Been watching TV feed. And listening to radio feed in what we all know is a very empty and quiet stadium. I did not hear a chant.

I was at the game, walking down Eutaw street and I heard some cheering. We ran to the flag court to see if something exciting was happening in the game (Lord knows we need something—anything, to cheer for). I saw the Trump flag being unfurled. Only heard cheering. No chant.

Had they unfurled a KamalaHarris2020 banner, they would have been escorted to field level seats.
