AOC dishes out dangerous rhetoric: People in marginalized communities have ‘no choice but to riot’

Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez is under fire again for saying that people in marginalized communities, including those in the U.S., have “no choice but to riot.”

The New York Democrat made her remarks during an interview Tuesday with New York’s Hot 97 as she discussed the Israeli-Palestinian conflict.

“I believe injustice is a threat to the safety of all people. Because once you have a group that is marginalized and marginalized and marginalized…once someone doesn’t have access to clean water, they have no choice but to riot,” Ocasio-Cortez said on the “Ebro in the Morning” radio program.

“And it doesn’t have to be that way. I’m not even talking about Palestinians. I’m talking about communities in poverty in the United States; I’m talking about Latin America; I’m talking about all over the world,” she said.

“Social destabilization is what happens when people do not have a plan or feel like there’s no vision for their future,” she added.

Her tone-deaf remarks came just two weeks after she was slammed for refusing to condemn the violent domestic terror attack of an Immigration and Customs Enforcement Center in Tacoma, Washington by an Antifa member.

The armed man, Willem Van Spronsen, was killed by police but his manifesto reportedly used the same language as Ocasio-Cortez in describing U.S. detention centers.

Ocasio-Cortez’s comments seeming to condone rioting by marginalized people also came in the wake of several attacks on police officers in her own home state of New York. Republican legislators joined the New York City Police Department Wednesday to introduce a measure making water attacks on the police a felony punishable by up to four years in prison.

Tuesday’s radio interview earned more criticism for Ocasio-Cortez as she agreed with the show’s host when he blamed the Palestinian and Israeli conflict on “white supremacist Jews.”

“There’s a lot of young Jewish people that I know that are absolutely against the occupation and I wanted you, because often on this program, we have the freedom to address the fact that something that you know people, it’s an oxymoron, how do you have white supremacist Jews?” Ebro Darden asked.

“Absolutely,” Ocasio-Cortez agreed.

“And I think to where we’re at as a country when it comes to Israel-Palestine is very much a generational thing,” she continued. “I think that when we start looking at it through that lens, a lot of this stuff starts to make sense,” the Democratic socialist said.

“It’s like what you’re talking about, young Jews in Israel are sick of this. Like, the Netanyahu Administration is very much like the Trump Administration,” Ocasio-Cortez continued, pushing back on the idea that criticizing Israeli policy is anti-Semitic or anti-Israel.

“The same way that me criticizing Trump doesn’t make me anti-American, criticizing the occupation doesn’t make you anti-Israel,” she said. “It doesn’t mean that you are against the existence of a nation. It means that you believe in human rights, and it’s about making sure that Palestinian human rights are equal to Israeli human rights.”

This coming from the same lawmaker who laughed her way out of a direct question in an interview by claiming she was “not the expert on geo-politics.”

Twitter users were quick to condemn the freshman lawmaker for, as Fox News’ Sean Hannity noted, going “too far.”
