Frustrated Juan Williams can’t see why all 4 co-hosts are against him: ‘This is such a deep echo chamber’

Juan Williams butted heads with his Fox News co-hosts on “The Five” when discussing — what else? — President Donald Trump’s recent tweets targeting Rep. Elijah Cummings (D-MD) and the sad current state of the city of Baltimore.

After playing a clip of various leftists calling the president racist for his tweets slamming Cummings’ leadership in Baltimore and calling the city itself “infested,” Jesse Watters and Greg Gutfeld called out the left for ignoring the facts in Trump’s tweets.

Asked what he thinks on the matter by Watters, Williams chimed in, “I think the problem is your bizarre thinking on this.”

He went on to say that Trump is merely trying to distract from Cummings’ efforts on the House Oversight Committee — the Maryland congressman has said numerous times he supports the impeachment of the president.

“I think the president is trying to distract from Elijah Cummings’ effort and oversight on Trump. He sees Elijah Cummings, especially when Elijah Cummings went after his immigration policy, separating children from parents at the border, he’s saying, ‘hey, wait a second, Elijah Cummings, why are you talking about what’s going on at the border? You should be talking about Baltimore,'” Williams said.

“How’s that a distraction?” Watters asked. The two then agreed to call the move a “counter-punch” by Trump.

“It has nothing to do with fixing the problems that you were just talking about,” Williams continued. The Fox host said “a lot of people” in Baltimore agree that Trump is not “sincere” in wanting to fix the problems Baltimore is facing.

“They don’t see any effort from the president,” Williams said. “The president has never shown an interest in dealing with these issues.”

After it was pointed out that there are firsthand videos of the rat infestations in Baltimore and the terrible shape of the city — some of which Trump has retweeted himself — Dana Perino jumped in to say this whole ordeal simply proves the media “still does not know” how to deal with the president or his tweeting.

“Instead of talking about, ‘well, what did he mean by his tweet?’ and going through and diagramming the sentence, [the media] are not able to actually talk about the issues and that’s where [Trump] continues to win,” Perino said.

Williams countered this point as well by saying that Democrats have pointed out the issues of Baltimore in the past and the president is simply capitalizing on the issues for political points.

“The president comes in and what does he do? Demeans people in terms of [saying], ‘what human being would want to live here?’ This takes us back to the way he talks about a**hole countries and the way that he talks about John Lewis … if he cared, he would also be talking about some of these white congressmen, Republicans, who come from districts with far higher poverty rates among whites and blacks,” Williams said.

After Gutfeld and Watters continued to understandably defend the president, Williams basically threw his hands up.

“You know, this is such a deep echo-chamber that I get worried,” he said.

He then tried to continue defending his stance that the president is not sincere with his tweets.

“Right now, he’s calling Elijah Cummings a thief, suggesting that Cummings has been stealing federal dollars going to Baltimore,” Williams said.

After clashing with Watters’ over Cummings’ “reputation” — Watters rightfully countered Williams and said that Cummings has been calling Trump a “traitor” for three years — Williams brought up a poll where 51 percent of people responding said Trump is a racist.

“You guys don’t hear this,” Williams said of the poll.

Laughing, Gutfeld pointed out that no one thought Trump was a racist until he ran for president and the media told people “for months” that Trump was racist.

“America needs to refute and reject the small percentage of people in the media who push race as a weapon because everything else they have fails,” Gutfeld said in a delightful mic-drop moment.

Williams is a good guy, but it’s clear he’s suffering from a serious case of Trump Derangement Syndrome. He says Trump supporters are living in an “echo-chamber,” but that’s exactly what he’s doing. He’s jumping on the bandwagon to call the president a racist without listening to the other side. He even says Trump doesn’t call out Republicans, which should sound beyond ridiculous for anyone who has a memory that goes back longer than a week.

The issues Trump has pointed out about Baltimore exist. That cannot be denied at this point. And calling out Cummings has nothing to do with his race. It has to do with the congressman’s district struggling while he plays his personality up for cameras when he talks about impeaching Trump or the state of the southern border. Trump is right to ask where federal funds are going in Baltimore and he’s right to call out a showman like Cummings.

For anyone still denying that Baltimore is how Trump has described it, just take a look at this report from FOX Baltimore. As they were reporting on Trump’s tweets, an actual rat ran through their shot. You can’t make this stuff up …
