Tucker Carlson: Dems keep saying ‘no one is above the law,’ with the exception of Illegals

Fox News host Tucker Carlson slammed Democrats for repeatedly claiming “no one is above the law” while making an exception for illegal immigrants.

During his monologue on Fox News Channel’s “Tucker Carlson Tonight,” Carlson targeted Democrats and “one of their favorite talking points,” noting how the left uses the catchphrase to attack President Donald Trump but excuses themselves by “ignoring and subverting” U.S. law.

“Maybe you’ve noticed this from watching TV in the past couple of years: When it’s about tax returns or executive orders or, of course, Russia, the left strikes and law and order pose,” Carlson said. “Nobody, they’ll remind you, finger-wagging in your face, is above the law in this country. Nobody. Not even — drumroll, please — the president of the United States.”

After playing several video clips of attacks on Trump using the phrase, Carlson noted the contradiction as Democrats behave as if illegal immigrants are above the law.

“It’s one of their favorite talking points,” he said.

“Its highly effective because it is absolutely true. In America, nobody is above the law. That is the promise of this country. It is the best thing about it. It’s why this isn’t the third world,” he continued.

“If only Democrats actually believed their own bumper stickers, we would be far better off. But in this case, they don’t. Nobody is above the law? Please, spare us. The Democratic Party’s entire electoral future depends upon making certain that millions upon millions of people are above the law,” Carlson added.

“In real life, our laws are unambiguous. Nobody is allowed to move to this country without our permission. People who come here illegally must be sent home. That’s what the law says. The modern Democratic Party is built around ignoring and subverting that law,” he said.

Carlson pointed to Trump’s orders this month for Immigration and Customs Enforcement raids to remove illegal aliens facing final deportation orders.

“These are people who, at our expense, have received their day in court. They lost. They’ve been ordered to leave. They’ve ignored the order. If you cared about the rule of law, you’d send them home immediately,” he said. “But the left doesn’t care. They denounced any attempt to enforce the law as bigotry.”

Pointing to examples of Democrats, such as Hillary Clinton and Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, helping those in the country illegally evade federal law and immigration authorities, saying these actions are now “normal” for the party.

“It is now mainstream within the Democratic Party to compare border facilities to Nazi concentration camps, and demand the abolition of border enforcement entirely. Virtually every Democratic city in America has declared itself a sanctuary for illegals,” he said, adding that the “Obama administration created the entire DACA program, specifically to protect millions of illegal immigrants from ever having the law enforced against them.”

“Maybe you support DACA. Many of Americans do. OK. But don’t lecture us about how nobody is above the law. Dreamers are above the law, by definition. That’s the whole point of the program,” Carlson emphasized, before highlighting examples of Democrats pushing to “reward law-breaking with taxpayer funded benefits.”

“Come here, break our laws, take our benefits, denounce us as racists if you want. We’ll still give you free health care. That’s their message,” he said.

“The Democratic Party has decided that all of them deserve to come here, and stay, permanently, at our expense. The law does not apply to them,” he added, calling the views “nuts and scary.”

Even the top liberal think tank, the Center for American Progress, has warned that the radical immigration positions by Democrats may cost them in the 2020 election, as Trump’s “rule of law” approach is actually resonating more with voters.

Nationwide amnesty or calls to abolish ICE only “fuels louder calls for maximum enforcement, which then strengthen calls for abolition, ad infinitum,” a new CAP report stated.

“The report says the party’s positions are so extreme, that they’re forcing Americans to choose between being a nation of immigrants, or a nation of laws. Most people are for laws,” Carlson noted, citing a newly-released Marist poll that showed 66 percent of American adults oppose decriminalizing illegal border crossings.

“Americans don’t hate immigrants. They’re not bitter racists, no matter what Pete Buttigieg claims.,” Carlson concluded, referring to the South Bend, Indiana mayor.

“This is a kind and decent country,” he said. “But it is, and has always been, a nation of laws. Once we give that up, it’s over.
