Mayor Pete Buttigieg facing mass mutiny back home as officers claim they receive no support

It’s hard enough to be a police officer in 2019 America, where it is now acceptable to assault LEOs for simply doing their jobs as we saw this week in New York. Cops were doused with water and had buckets thrown at them as they made an arrest, all while being mocked and heckled by onlookers.

But when you are in the middle of an officer-involved shooting investigation and aren’t even receiving the support of your town’s own Mayor? That’s enough to demoralize even the strongest of police forces.

South Bend Mayor Pete Buttigieg appears to be too busy trying to keep up on the Democratic presidential campaign trail to pay much attention to what is happening back home, and now members of the local police force of threatening a “mass exodus” if something doesn’t change.

In an interview with Fox News, President of the South Bend Fraternal Order of Police Lodge #36 Harvey Mills details a blatant lack of interest in local politics by “Mayor Pete,” including the fact that he doesn’t ever remember the presidential candidate attending the annual memorial service for officers killed in the line of duty.

Watch below:

“You say that morale is shattered within the police department,” noted Fox & Friends host Ainsley Earhardt. “Do you blame Mayor Pete for that?”

“I think a lot of it is the city administration, yeah sure,” replied Mills.

“Why? What has he done?” Earhardt asked.

“Not a lot. You know for instance, we hold a memorial service every year for the 15 officers that have died in the line of duty at our police department and I don’t recall a single one that he’s attended,” Mills revealed. “We’ve had senators and congress people and local officials from elsewhere but I’ve not seen him at one of our memorial services and that’s demoralizing.”

Perhaps Mayor Pete is just too busy pandering to the LGBT community…

… or taking on abstract “threats” like climate change…

… or standing with anti-Semitic Democrats to actually take up for the men and women protecting his home town.

Buttigieg’s poll numbers are not good enough for him to be ignoring his Mayoral duties like this. He is not staring down the barrel of the Democratic presidential nomination. In fact, if his campaign doesn’t have an ace up their sleeve, Pete may very well end up going home before we even get to the primaries. Does he really want to return to a town on fire after months of neglect and abandonment?
