A reporter asked President Trump on Wednesday about whether the administration is investigating the possibility of Rep. Ilhan Omar committing immigration fraud for marrying her brother, and he replied that he believed someone would be, though he was not aware of details.
Reporters had a few moments with the President on the White House lawn before he left for a campaign rally in Greenville, North Carolina. Emerald Robinson of One America News Network asked Trump “if the administration is looking into possible immigration fraud committed by Ilhan Omar for possibly marrying her brother.”
“Well, there’s a lot of talk about the fact that she was married to her brother,” the President replied. “I know nothing about it. I hear she was married to her brother. You’re asking me a question about it. I don’t know, but I’m sure that somebody will be looking at that.”

Omar has denied claims that her one-time husband Ahmed N. Elmi is her brother, and she swore under oath in 2017 in a divorce filing that she hadn’t seen Elmi in six years and did not know how to contact him, although in June, journalist and PJ Media editor David Steinberg found documentation that he says indicates Elmi may have designed a website for Omar’s sister this year.
Steinberg tweeted an image of source code that he says is evidence Elmi was recently in Nairobi, Kenya, working for Omar’s sister there

A StarTribune report said: “A state probe of campaign finance violations showed that Rep. Ilhan Omar filed federal taxes in 2014 and 2015 with her current husband, Ahmed Hirsi, while legally married to but separated from Ahmed Nur Said Elmi.”
“New investigative documents released by a state agency have given fresh life to lingering questions about the marital history of Rep. Ilhan Omar and whether she once married a man — possibly her own brother — to skirt immigration laws,” the June 23 StarTrib article stated.
A statement issued by Omar’s spokesman Jeremy Slevin in June attempted to deflect the reemergence of the immigration and tax-fraud controversies surrounding the congresswoman.
“Since before she was elected to office,” he wrote. “Ilhan has been the subject of conspiracy theories and false accusations about her personal life. Emboldened by a president who openly treats immigrants, refugees and Muslims as invaders, these attacks often stem from the presumption that Ilhan — like others who share those identities — is somehow illegitimate or not fully American.
“Ilhan has shared more than most public officials ever do about the details of her personal life — even when it is personally painful,” he continued. “Whether by colluding with right-wing outlets to go after Muslim elected officials or hounding family members, legitimate media outlets have a responsibility not to fan the flames of hate. Continuing to do so is not only demeaning to Ilhan, but to her entire family.”
Meanwhile, fake news outlets continue to ignore the whole thing. CNN star reporter Jim Acosta dismissed the serious allegations because Omar has denied it all …
