Trump will ‘no longer deal’ with British ambassador who called him ‘inept,’ slams May for creating a ‘mess’ with Brexit

President Donald Trump announced on Monday afternoon through Twitter that his administration will no longer be “dealing with” Kim Darroch, the British ambassador to the United States.

Trump also lashed out at British Prime Minister Theresa May for the “mess” she created through Brexit.

“I have been very critical about the way the U.K. and Prime Minister Theresa May handled Brexit. What a mess she and her representatives have created. I told her how it should be done, but she decided to go another way,” the president tweeted.

He then set his sights on Darroch.

“I do not know the Ambassador, but he is not liked or well thought of within the U.S. We will no longer deal with him,” Trump tweeted.

He continued by saying that British citizens have hope for the future because they will soon have a new prime minister. He also praised Queen Elizabeth II. He visited with the queen during his recent trip to England.

“The good news for the wonderful United Kingdom is that they will soon have a new Prime Minister. While I thoroughly enjoyed the magnificent State Visit last month, it was the Queen who I was most impressed with!” Trump tweeted.

Trump’s tweets follows a report from the Daily Mail that contained alleged cables sent by Darroch about Trump and his administration. The cables contained language very critical of the president and his ability to lead.

In one of the leaked cables, Darroch called Trump and his administration “inept.”

“We don’t really believe this Administration is going to become substantially more normal; less dysfunctional; less unpredictable; less faction riven; less diplomatically clumsy and inept,” he said.

Darroch was reportedly speaking to other top government officials in Britain when he trashed Trump.

Darroch also wrote in cables that Trump will “crash and burn” and said he “radiates insecurity.”

“And we could also be at the beginning of a downward spiral, rather than just a rollercoaster: something could emerge that leads to disgrace and downfall,” Darroch wrote.

He added, “For a man who has risen to the highest office on the planet, President Trump radiates insecurity.”

Trump had previously responded to the Darroch comments when speaking to reporters over the weekend.

Asked about the cables, Trump replied, “The ambassador has not served the UK well, I can tell you that.”

He added, “We’re not big fans of that man and he has not served the UK well. I can say things about him but I won’t bother.”

Theresa May responded to Darroch’s words through a spokesperson.

“Contact has been made with the Trump administration setting out our view that we believe the leak in unacceptable. It is, of course, a matter of regret that this has happened,” the spokesman said.

She also expressed “full faith” in Darroch’s ability to perform his job well.

Liam Fox, the international trade secretary, is one of many who has called for the leaker of Darroch’s correspondences to be found and prosecuted.

“This is such a damaging, potentially damaging, event that I hope the full force of our internal discipline, or even the law, will come down on whoever actually carried out this particular act,” he said.
