‘Abject pandering and arrogance’: Calif Dems push bill that will allow noncitizens to become Party leaders

California continues to lead the way in thumbing its nose at the Constitution and giving special treatment to those in the country illegally.

A new bill proposed by lawmakers last week seeks to give non-citizens the right to hold state and local Democratic Party leadership positions, Fox News reported.

The legislation, known as SB 288, would allow illegals immigrants to serve with the Democrat Party as state convention delegates and county committee leaders.

California state Sen. Scott Wiener indicated that the bill has a dual role in that it simultaneously allows non-citizens to have a voice in the California Democratic Party platform and is essentially flipping the bird to the Trump administration for its immigration policies.

“We need to continue to send a very, very loud message that we are … going to embrace and uplift and support all American immigrant neighbors,” The Democrat from San Francisco told reporters last week, adding that Trump’s administration has caused “fear and anxiety” among immigrants, according to the San Francisco Chronicle.

“As our immigrant communities face vicious attacks from this President and his administration, California must embrace, lift up, and empower immigrant voices and leaders,” Wiener said in a press release last week. “Immigrants contribute to our economy, culture, and civic life. They’re already leaders in our communities and should have a seat at the table. The Democratic Party will continue to lead as the party that embraces all communities, and this legislative fix will help keep us on track.”

In Wiener’s district of San Francisco, illegal aliens are already allowed to vote in school board elections.

According to Fox News:

Local Democratic officials, in discussing the bill, suggested it could apply to some undocumented immigrants including so-called Dreamers — young immigrants brought illegally to the U.S. as children who were given a temporary deportation reprieve under the Obama administration.

SB288 has been widely panned by Republicans in the state, who argue that the measure is less about helping immigrants and more about Democrats “pandering” to the party’s progressive base.

“It’s abject pandering and arrogance,” the Republican National Committeeman for California, Shawn Steel, told Fox News.

“This is what happens when you have too much power…it’s just progressives trying to out-progressive each other,” Steel added, referring to the Democratic supermajority control of both houses of the state legislature. Gavin Newsom soon also the governor’s seat for the party after defeating his Republican opponent, John Cox, in November.

“Democrats can do whatever they want in California right now,” Steel said. “They think nobody is going to oppose them.”

Newsom will likely sign the bill which is poised to make it to his desk after it passes easily through the state legislature.

“It’s only a matter of time before we see the expansion of illegal alien voting in state elections and eventually the Left pushing for illegal alien voting in federal elections,” Eric Eggers, director of research at the Government Accountability Institute, told Breitbart News in June, reacting to New York’s new law allowing illegal aliens to get drivers’ licenses in the state.

“My research shows that illegals get caught up in this by parties that exploit and victimize illegal aliens,” he said.

California’s latest pandering to those in the state illegally sparked outrage on social media.
