‘Milkshakes’ thrown by Antifa reportedly made with quick-drying cement, assaulted reporter has ‘brain bleed’

During what were supposed to be peaceful demonstrations Saturday in Portland, Oregon, by the Proud Boys, a pro-free-speech, pro-liberty fraternity compromised of a bevy of minorities, a group of what appeared to be mostly (if not all) white far-left Antifa activists repeatedly attacked a journalist with milkshakes that may have have contained quick-drying cement.

That journalist, Andy Ngo, had shown up at the demonstrations to document the violent behavior of Antifa, a veritable terrorist group whose members have repeatedly sought to silence the Proud Boys and ostracize the free-speech group from the virulently far-left city.

As of Sunday morning, Ngo was in a local emergency room.

While in the act of observing and recording Antifa’s behavior Saturday, Ngo was purposefully assaulted and robbed. Prior to the demonstrations Saturday, members of Antifa had repeatedly threatened to attack Ngo over his in-depth reporting on left-wing violence/fascism and hate crime hoaxes.

Video footage of the attack showed Antifa thugs punching, kicking and throwing milkshakes at Ngo.

Watch:

Hours after the demonstrations concluded, the Portland Police Bureau reported that “some of the milkshakes … contained quick-drying cement.”

While it’s unclear whether the milkshakes hurled at Ngo were among those with cement, he did reportedly sustain serious injuries and was forced to visit a local ER.

“[H]e is being admitted to the hospital overnight as a result of a brain bleed,” his attorney, Harmeet Dhillon, announced on Twitter late Saturday evening.

The attack on Ngo, a renowned journalist whose immigrant parents escaped a South Vietnamese labor camp and fled to the United States in 1978, has tugged on the heartstrings of a large swath of conservative and even some liberal notables throughout the country.

Even CNN chief media correspondent Brian Stelter, whose colleagues have previously defended Antifa’s violence and fascism, was compelled to remark on the attack, though for reasons that remain unclear, he stopped short of recognizing Ngo as a bonafide journalist:

Among those bothered by the attack on Ngo was nationally syndicated columnist and political commentator Michelle Malkin. A fervent opponent of left-wing fascism, Malkin responded to the attack by launching a GoFundMe page for her journalist friend.

“My friend, Portland, Oregon-based journalist Andy Ngo, was beaten and robbed today by Antifa while covering the latest paroxysms of left-wing violence,” the fundraiser reads.

“Andy has been singled out, doxxed, and targeted by SJW thugs while police stand by and do nothing. Please help raise money for his security and medical needs, and to help him replace his stolen equipment.”

Despite the severity of the attack, it’s unfortunately also attracted mockery and derision from a stunning number of blue check mark leftists who’ve downplayed the attack and suggested that Ngo deserved it for being, as Malkin put it, “one of the intrepid journalists doing the job no one else will do.”

There are certain stories and narratives that the far-left media refuse to touch, including those related to hate crime hoaxes, inner city crimes, Islamic terrorism and left-wing fascism.

Because Ngo has displayed a willingness to cover these stories with a keen eye, he’s been branded by the radical far-left as everything from an Islamaphobe to a white supremacist and fascist.

Keep in mind these are all notable figures with wide reach and influence.

What remains unclear is whether folks like CNN’s Stelter, who purports to care deeply about the plight of journalists and has previously used his weekday newsletter to criticize the Trump administration for its alleged attacks on journalists, will take the time to cover both Ngo’s attack and the disturbing response by his, Stelter’s, blue-check-mark leftist peers with the same depth that Ngo himself has practiced in his own “intrepid” reporting.

Update: Stelter issued a more detailed statement Sunday afternoon:

His surprising take earned him accolades from some:
