The chair of the Democrat National Committee, which is the formal governing body for the entire Democrat Party, revealed Sunday that he supports providing healthcare to illegal aliens.
Speaking with Fox News host Chris Wallace about what happened last week at the second Democrat presidential debate, where every candidate on stage expressed support for providing healthcare to illegal aliens, DNC chair Tom Perez admitted that he feels the same.
“It’s an insurance program, so you have to pay for it,” he initially said defensively when confronted by Wallace about the prospect of healthcare for illegals. “And as you know, immigrants, including undocumented immigrants, pay billions of dollars in taxes.”
Listen to the relevant part of his discussion with Wallace below, via FNC’s “Fox News Sunday“:
Right off the bat, there were problems with his rhetoric, not that Wallace, a Democrat, noticed.
First, immigrants and illegal aliens are not the same things. Second, while a 2017 report from the left-leaning Institute on Taxation & Economic Policy did admittedly find that illegal aliens likely paid about $11.7 billion in state and local taxes in 2014 alone, these taxes pale in comparison to the amount already being spent annually on healthcare for illegals.
“All told, Americans cross-subsidize health care for unauthorized immigrants to the tune of $18.5 billion a year,” Chris Conover from the Center for Health Policy and Inequalities Research at Duke University revealed in a report last year, citing his research.
Reports have likewise suggested that the total cost of illegal immigration runs as high as $113 billion a year. Neither of these facts were pointed out by Wallace, who instead allowed Perez to continue talking.
“Democrats believe that affordable, quality healthcare should be available to everyone, and thanks to Obama, thanks to LBJ — Medicare and Medicaid — we’re 90 percent of the way there. We’re having a discussion about how to get the final 10 percent,” the DNC chair continued.
It was at this point that Wallace finally interjected to point out an indisputable truth about former President Barack Obama, who’d falsely claimed prior to Obamacare’s implementation that it would not benefit illegal aliens.
“There are also those who claim that our reform effort will insure illegal immigrants. This, too, is false – the reforms I’m proposing would not apply to those who are here illegally,” he’d said during a speech to Congress in September of 2009.
At the time, then-Republican Rep. Joe Wilson attracted widespread, bipartisan criticism for interrupting the speech to yell, “You lie!”
Here’s a reminder of what that noteworthy event:
But as noted by Wallace on Sunday, it appears Wilson had been telling the truth — and Obama had been lying.
“Now Republican Congressman Joe Wilson was called out — and rightly so — for shouting out in a speech to a joint session of congress ‘you lie,’ but the fact is, 10 years later, Joe Wilson is right,” Wallace said.
Perez promptly tried to rebut this by telling a blatant lie.
“Democrats believe that you should be able to buy into a health insurance system. It’s not a handout,” he said.
Healthcare for illegal aliens is very often a handout. Over in California, for instance, earlier this month Gov. Gavin Newsom signed into law a bill that expanded the state’s Medicaid program, Medi-Cal, to cover low-income illegals between the ages of 19 and 25.
That, Mr. Perez, is called a handout …
Coming soon to YOUR CITY and YOUR STATE if Democrats retake the White House. By the way, if you live in California, I…
“But Barack Obama didn’t say that?” Wallace replied.
It’s unclear why the FNC host didn’t point out that the DNC chair was lying.
“We were in a different era,” Perez continued. “I believe that what we’re doing right now is the right thing to do. I live in a community right now where, if you are a pregnant woman and you are undocumented, we provide you with access to health care, because we believe that having good prenatal care is an essential health care issue.”
“It’s an essential issue of economics. And frankly, it’s an essential issue of morality. The party of Lincoln is dead, and one of the things that died with it is compassion.”
That’s quite the claim …
What’s unclear is why Perez and his peers in Congress and the 2016 presidential primary race only have compassion for illegal aliens who’ve willfully violated federal immigration laws.
Where is their compassion for the victims of illegal alien crime, such as Bambi Larson, a 59-year-old mother of two; and Newman Police Department Cpl. Ronil Singh, the 33-year-old father of a newborn son? Both were murdered by illegal aliens, but Democrats don’t seem to care.
According to Singh’s widow, it was in reality only President Donald Trump, a Republican, who showed any concern for her and her family after her husband’s death last December.
“I actually want to thank you personally,” she said to the president’s face two months ago at the 38th Annual National Peace Officers’ Memorial Service on Capitol Hill while holding back tears.
“You’re the only one that actually reached out and gave your condolences to the family, and it actually means a lot to all of our law enforcement families that are here for the sacrifice my husband and his brothers and sisters have given. Every family sitting out here wants justice for what happened to their loved ones.”
Watch both Singh’s widow and brother speak at the event below:
Why is it that neither Perez nor the 10 presidential candidates who expressed support for providing healthcare to illegal aliens have any compassion for them, huh?
