Team Mitch swoops in with ultimate comeback to Pelosi’s ‘McConnell’s graveyard’ stunt

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s shot at Sen. Mitch McConnell boomeranged as her “graveyard” diss had some unintended consequences.

The California Democrat stepped on a rake as she attempted to shame the Senate Majority Leader at her weekly press conference, displaying a poster titled “McConnell’s graveyard” with headstones naming bills she claimed  McConnell “wants to bury.”

“Leader McConnell seems to take great pride in calling himself the Grim Reaper, it’s part of his political campaign,” Pelosi said Thursday, pointing to the chart and slamming the Kentucky Republican for turning the Senate into a legislative “graveyard.”

“It’s part of the pride he takes as leader of the Senate,” she added.

“None of these things are going to pass,” Pelosi continued. “They’re not even going to be voted on.”

“What is it about @SenateMajLdr & the Republicans in Congress that they refuse to act on issues that the American people are demanding solutions from on?” Pelosi asked on Twitter.

The chart showed more than a dozen bills, including the Equality Act, that are currently stalled in the Senate while using McConnell’s own words, touting himself as the Grim Reaper, to drive her point. But, rather than fire up her supporters against the Republican, Pelosi seemed to make the case that McConnell is, indeed, a GOP force to be reckoned with.

The Republican leader even agreed, with his office thanking Pelosi for reigniting interest in an anti-socialism “Grim Reaper” shirt.

McConnell reaffirmed that he is the Grim Reaper, bent on taking out the Democrats’ socialist agenda.

“She’s got it right,” McConnell told Fox News’ Laura Ingraham on “The Ingraham Angle” Thursday. “She’s got it absolutely right. For the first time in my memory, I agree with Nancy Pelosi.”

“I am indeed the ‘Grim Reaper’ when it comes to the socialist agenda that they have been ginning up over the House with overwhelming Democratic support, and sending it over to America,” McConnell added.

“Things that would turn us into a country we have never been,” he said, citing examples like the Green New Deal and Medicare For All.

“By the way, you may have mentioned this on your show, but they planned to make the District of Columbia a state,” McConnell told Ingraham. “That will give them two new Democratic Senators, Puerto Rico a state, that will give them two more Democratic Senators. And as a former Supreme Court clerk yourself, you’ve surely noticed that they plan to expand to the Supreme Court.”

Despite the “socialism on the march” in the House, McConnell noted,  “as long as I’m the Majority Leader of the Senate, none of that stuff is going anywhere.”

And that attitude is exactly what supporters want to hear. And is exactly what Pelosi managed to reinforce with her poorly thought out plan of attack.
