Tim Allen, Tom Hanks promote Toy Story 4. One of them comes out with ‘black card’ the other gets called a ‘racist’

In an interview promoting the upcoming “Toy Story 4” with his costar Tom Hanks, things got a bit awkward when it was revealed Allen knew nothing of the card game spades. That brief awkwardness was digested by woke liberals everywhere desperate for something to be angry about and then spit out as an example of racism.

Sitting down with Global Grind entertainment reporter Xilla Valentine for an interview, the actors were challenged to prove their “black cards” by answering a question about spades. The game was inspired by a “Saturday Night Live” skit Hanks starred in called “Black Jeopardy.”

Valentine proceeds to ask the two actors a hypothetical question about a spades card game and it’s so deep that only someone who is really familiar with the game will know what he’s talking about.

Hanks answers with the move he would play. Allen is a little more lost.

“I’ve been working Vegas 30 years. I don’t gamble,” replies Allen.

After the actor and interviewer share a laugh, Hanks begins talking spades again and says money doesn’t necessarily need to be involved in the game. He and Valentine begin talking spades again and Allen chimes in and says, “I don’t know what you guys are talking about. I don’t have any idea what you guys just said.”

Hanks then turns to his costar and asks, “You don’t know how to play spades?”

“I’m going to say I do just because I want to move on,” Allen says.

Hanks then begins reminiscing about seeing people play the game whist while he was in Oakland, California.

“Should I get a cup of coffee or something?” Allen then asks.

Before the days of Twitter and safe spaces and measuring people’s “wokeness,” this would have been a simple fluff interview with two comedic actors promoting a family film. The interviewer and Hanks connect and Allen does his best to be funny in a situation where he doesn’t have much to offer.

Because we actually do live in the world of safe spaces and demonizing anything that remotely deviates from a far-left agenda, this is not a simple conversation between three men, but rather an example of racism because, you know, not understanding a card game today is all it takes.

“‘You both have Black cards’ Since when? Black people really need to stop handing out Blcka cards and bbq invites to every white person who smiles at us. Tim Allen is hella racist,” wrote one Twitter user in reaction to the “Home Improvement” star’s interview.

“All I got from this is that it pretty much confirmed that Tim Allen is a major lame,” replied another.

“I feel like Tim Allen knew but he didn’t want to hurt his appeal with his fan base,” said another.

“Tom Hanks = cool a** white neighbor who shows up at the black neighbors birthday party with a 6 pack for the adults, drinks for the kids & will dance off beat when the cha cha slide comes on. Tim Allen = Shows up & asks if you have a permit for your bounce house,” responded another.

These angry responses are telling because they don’t just go after Allen for not knowing how to play spades. They mention his “fan base” and say he’s a racist with such definitiveness that the anger has to be born from somewhere beyond this interview and it’s easy to know where — Allen is one of Hollywood’s few outspoken conservative voices. He has voiced support for Trump in the past and railed against Hollywood for promoting political correctness, so this is not the first time keyboard warriors have attacked him as racist.

Allen is especially targeted today because he headlines a high-rated comedy series that actually shows a conservative character in a fair light. While television is dominated by left-wing programming, “Last Man Standing” is one of the few pleasures for right-leaning viewers. The show even survived a cancellation that was accused by many of being political in nature.

Conservatives have seen right through the attacks on Allen.

“The only reason Tim Allen is being targeted as a racist is because he’s a successful white conservative male in Hollywood. It’s as simple as that,” wrote conservative commentator Brigitte Gabriel on Twitter.

Matt Walch identified the angry reactions as just another example that we are all living in “stupid times.”

“Tim Allen is trending right now because he doesn’t know how to play the card game spades, which apparently means he is racist. My Lord, these are stupid times,” he tweeted.
