During an impromptu press conference with reporters Tuesday on the White House South Lawn, President Donald Trump showcased a single piece of paper and claimed that it contained the details of his immigration deal with Mexico.
In response, dozens of blue check mark liberals, including CNN political analyst Brian Karem, speculated that the piece of paper was blank.
“That’s the agreement everybody says I don’t have,” the president said as he retrieved the piece of paper from his blazer pocket and began waving it around.
“No, because I’m going to let Mexico do the announcement at the right now,” he added when asked by reporters whether he’d let them see it up-close. “But here’s the agreement. It’s a very simple agreement. “This is one page of a very long and very good agreement for both Mexico and the United States.”
Within minutes of this presser occurring, liberal “journalists,” commentators and activists rushed to their keyboards and began conspiracy theorizing yet again.
“POTUS holds up what appears to be a blank piece of paper claiming it contains the Mexican deal. Refuses to answer when I ask him to show us,” Karem tweeted.
In fairness to him, he used the word “appears” to make it clear that he wasn’t certain. But not everybody who complained about the piece of paper being blank made this distinction.

trump just uttered the most comical five words since he took office:
“I give you my word.”
He was flashing a single folded piece of paper — almost certainly blank — he claims is the agreement with Mexico showing his win.
This man is not well.

The President of the United States just said that, under his administration, vital intelligence about Kim Jong Un & his family should not be collected.
You can’t make this stuff up.
Granted this was just after he waved a blank piece of paper & said it was the Mexico trade deal.

Dozens — if not hundreds — of more examples may be seen on Twitter.
Jana Lynne Sanchez is a failed Democrat congressional candidate for Texas’s 6th Congressional District. As of Wednesday morning, she still hadn’t corrected her mistake. Nor had Philippe Reines, who once served as former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton’s senior adviser during her tenure at the State Department.
In fairness to Karem again, he at least issued a correction of sorts after close-up photos of the piece of paper began going viral on Twitter. The photos clearly showed text.
Updating: not blank. And some intrepid photogs were able to partially decipher what he waved about.

Not that this did much to appease his critics, who’ve been relentlessly hounding him nonstop on Twitter for sharing fake news. While it’s true that Karem did use the word “appears” in his tweet, the fact remains that CNN has a habitual habit of sharing fake news.
“So Brian, you lied?” one angry critic opined. “You said the paper was blank, correct? So, you lied. And people wonder why you are called FAKE NEWS. Not to hard to see why.”
“You are fake news reporter,” another critic wrote. “You didn’t see the paper and you assumed that it blank. This is how pathetic reporters in the US are. Can’t you guys be objective a bit. Remember what ever you sow you will rip it one day. I rest my case.”

So, you lied.
And people wonder why you are called FAKE NEWS.
Not to hard to see why.

You’re a “reporter” and you accused the president of holding up a blank piece of paper? I bet you complain when he calls CNN fake news, too.
— Rick Yuzzi (@RickYuzzi) June 12, 2019
You lied. It wasn’t blank. Why do you lie to the American people? You have no credibility. He “refused to answer”?! So what. You sound like a bratty child demanding an answer from their parent and not a serious objective curious journalist. Fake news
— J Tortosa (@Jah18186004) June 12, 2019
Driving their anger was the way he’d treated Trump. If you go back to his original tweet, you’ll notice that he attached a video to it. In the clip he can be seen harassing the president.
“So if you don’t like it, is it fake news, Mr. President?” Karem repeatedly asks.
It’s not even clear what that question meant …
To answer Karem’s question, something is not fake news just because the president dislikes it. Something is fake news when it’s not true. Speaking of which, one could reasonably argue that his original tweet was indeed fake news, as his critics have suggested.
