Brennan suggests Trump is turning ‘blind eye’ to Russian meddling to help with his reelection

Former CIA Director John Brennan was trotted out Tuesday night by MSNBC’s Chris Matthews to help shore up former Joe Biden new campaign narrative that President Donald Trump is an existential threat to the country.

In the process, he suggested that the president may be “turning a blind eye” to Russian interference in our electoral system because it may help with his reelection efforts.

In making such an outlandish remark, Brennan went so far as to charge that Trump may stand in the way of the intelligence community’s efforts to respond to Moscow’s meddling.

Never mind that the left continues to ignore the fact that the interference in the 2016 election took place under the Obama administration’s watch, while Brennan headed up the CIA.

While Biden was barnstorming Tuesday in Iowa, the Democratic front-runner said, “I believe that the president is literally an existential threat to America.”

An assessment that Brennan is on board with.

“It’s hard to point out any aspect of Trump’s behavior that is more dangerous than another,” he told host Matthews, citing climate change and cyber threats among his concerns.

Talk about a blind eye, Brennan goes on to bemoan what he called “too much focus on [Trump’s] every move,” even though he’s a hired gun for MSNBC, a network that’s obsessed with covering the president’s every move.

But while discussing reports that North Korean dictator Kim Jong Un‘s half-brother was a CIA source, and Trump’s responding to his assassination in 2017 by citing his current relationship with Jong Un to say “that wouldn’t happen under my auspices.”

After Matthews suggested Trump’s remark meant he would prevent the intelligence agencies from following North Korean activities, to “protect his friend,” Brennan said the president has “always had a very, very negative attitude” toward intel agencies — this being the same agencies that spied on his campaign.

With the left still having Russia on the brain, Brennan would pivot in that direction.

“I wouldn’t put it past him to try to prevent the intelligence agency from understanding what might be happening if he felt that was going to be harmful to his policy or personal interests objectives,” Brennan said. “That’s why I’m concerned about the upcoming presidential election. It’s clear that the Russians interfered to help Mr. Trump in 2016. Is Mr. Trump turning a blind eye to that because he doesn’t mind if the Russians involve themselves again to try to enhance his prospects for reelection”

“It’s really quite unnerving to think that this president, Mr. Trump, can turn off law enforcement and intelligence capabilities if they pose a threat to him personally,” he concluded, knowing full well that’s a preposterous assertion.

Almost as ridiculous as the idea that such an ideologue like Brennan was once the top spy chief in America.
