No bias? CNN slammed for hyperbolic chyron, declares Biden to ‘eviscerate’ Trump in Iowa speech

CNN biased and hypocritical? Never that! Despite being maligned day in and day out by pesky conservatives over its alleged bias, anybody with common sense and reason knows that CNN is a wholly “fair and balanced” network …

Just kidding!

CNN is arguably a heavily partisan network whose contributors, anchors and pundits have no qualms about openly displaying their pro-Democrat, anti-Republican bias.

Take for instance the glaringly biased chyron that appeared on CNN early Tuesday morning after 2020 contender former Vice President Joe Biden released a transcript of what he intended to say during an event in Iowa later that afternoon:

Biden To Eviscerate Trump In Iowa Speech Today,” the chyron read.

While the intent was to highlight the former VP’s plans to criticize President Donald Trump during his speech in Iowa, the choice of words drew attention on social media for a couple of notable reasons.

For one, the dictionary definition of “eviscerate” is to “to take out the entrails of” and “disembowel,” according to Merriam-Webster. Was CNN, therefore, condoning violence against the president?

Second, was there not a more objective word that CNN, which purports to hold no political allegiance, could have used? How about “criticize” or “castigate?”

Third, Biden’s prepared remarks didn’t sound like an evisceration as much as they sounded like a rehash of Democrat talking points about the president’s policies. For instance, the former VP was slated to start his speech by blasting Trump’s tariffs on China.

“America’s farmers have been crushed by his tariff war with China,” he was slated to say. “No one knows that better than Iowa. He thinks he’s being tough. Well, it’s easy to be tough when someone else is feeling the pain. How many farmers across this state and across this nation have had to face the prospect of losing their business, of losing their farm because of Trump’s tariffs?”

“How many have had to stare at the ceiling at night wondering how they’re going to make it? How many sleepless nights do you think Trump has had over what he’s doing to America’s farmers?”

HERE’S WHAT YOU’RE MISSING …

Biden forgot to mention that the president approved $16 billion of aid to America’s farmers last month to help them weather the storm. He also neglected to mention that the tariffs serve a purpose: to push back against China’s unfair practices and promote America’s “long-term prosperity and security,” as Arkansas Sen. Tom Cotton explained in a statement to the media at the time.

“When I’m home in Arkansas, I hear from farmers who are worried about opening up new markets and getting their products to market,” he said. “But they also understand that China is a serious competitor in the United States and wants to displace us around the world.”

“And they look at the sacrifices that soldiers, sailors, airmen and Marines make around the world. They’re willing to bear some of those sacrifices in the short term that, hopefully in the long term, ensure our long-term prosperity and security.”

Listen:

Biden was also slated to talk about the auto manufacturing industry.

“One of my proudest moments in the White House was when President Obama and I led the rescue of the American auto industry,” he was to say. “We knew what it meant to the millions of jobs in the auto companies and the supply chain. We also knew what it meant to the pride of the nation. Now I’m watching Trump destroy the industry President Obama and I helped save.”

That may just be the lie of the year …

See the whole speech below:

It’s just a rehash of Democrat talking points — all of which could easily be debunked or at least reasonably countered by anybody interested in the actual truth.

During his speech Biden was also slated to go so far as to label Trump an “existential threat” to America. Never mind the president’s success in lowering the unemployment rate, increasing wages and even reducing anti-black and anti-Hispanic prejudice, apparently.

But instead of portraying Biden’s speech as one full of criticism — much of it arguably illegitimate — CNN chose to present it as truth so strong that it’d “eviscerate” the president.

And you can bet that CNN didn’t call out any of the former VP’s lies.

“[T]he tax cut he passed for the multi-millionaires and billionaires? When I’m President — Gone,” Biden was slated to say.

Except the tax cut saved the average taxpayer $1,400/year and the average family with two children $2,917/year. And lo and behold, the former VP wants to take this away from them, not that anybody at CNN cared to notice.
