President Donald Trump took time Saturday to call attention to a call for prayer from Franklin Graham, retweeting several posts from the son of world-famous evangelical Billy Graham, who died last year.
Then again, no one knows better than Trump what he’s up against as he takes on the corrupt political class in Washington, D.C. As an outsider, efforts to drain the swamp aren’t going over so well with those who make a lucrative living in the muck.
Graham set aside Sunday, June 2, as a “special day of prayer” for Trump, asking the nation for prayers to protect the president from his “enemies.”
“Thank you so much, Franklin!” the president said in one tweet.
“We will all stick together and WIN! Thank you Franklin,” Trump said in another post.
In a video posted online, Graham said he and “many other Christian leaders across the country” are asking Americans to take a moment for prayer.
“I don”t believe any president in the history of this nation has been attacked more than Donald Trump,” Graham said.
“He’s our president and if he succeeds, we all benefit,” he added. “But if his enemies are allowed to destroy him and pull down the presidency, it will hurt our entire nation. So I’m just asking that we take a few moments, and that we pray on the 2nd of June. Pray for him and for his family.”

Jack Graham, pastor of Prestonwood Baptist Church in Plano, Texas, also made an appeal — the pastor is a member of Trump’s unofficial evangelical executive advisory board.

Speaking with CNN, Franklin Graham said we’re at a critical moment in the country.
“We’re on the edge of a precipice,” he told the network. “Time is short. We need to pray for God to intervene. We need to ask God to protect, strengthen, encourage, and guide the President.”
Naturally, CNN noted that while praying for politicians is “commonplace,” Graham’s idea is “more political.”
“Some have accused Graham of ‘weaponizing’ prayer and turning it into a pro-Trump propaganda tool,” the anti-Trump network reported, rolling out evangelicals eager to criticize the effort.
Graham told CBN’s “Faith Nation” it’s not a political endorsement, that he’s heeding the Bible’s instruction and pray for the nation’s elected leader.
“This is not a political endorsement,” Graham insisted. “It’s just simply praying for the President. The Bible instructs us to pray for those who are in authority.”
250 Christian leaders have signed the statement of faith, according to CBN.
“We the undersigned are calling for June 2 to be a special Day of Prayer for the President of the United States, Donald J. Trump, that God would protect, strengthen, embolden, and direct him.
“We believe our nation is at a crossroads, at a dangerous precipice. The only one who can fix our country’s problems is God Himself, and we pray that God will bless our president and our nation for His glory.”
Graham shared his prayer for President Trump early Sunday morning on his official Facebook page.
Day of Prayer for the President
Thank you for praying for President Donald J. Trump today.
The Bible says, “The Lord also will be a refuge for the oppressed, a refuge in times of trouble. And those who know Your name will put their trust in You; for You, Lord, have not forsaken those who seek You.” (Psalm 9:9-10)

It’s remarkable how a call for prayer can produce so much hate — but then, anything is possible in post-Obama America.
Here’s just a few examples from the toxic wasteland known as Twitter:
Real Christians will be praying for the poor, the hungry, the marginalized—the very people @realDonaldTrump has been preying on and who you are now partnering with for profit.
I hope the hell you believe in exists…https://t.co/amzZYcv5ix

Don’t pray for #Trump. Pray instead for all the black & brown folks, immigrants, Muslims, gays, Jews, women, #LBGTQ, poor, sick, needy, middle class, the environment, science, truth & facts & everyone/everything else who’s been suffering at the hands of this evil sociopath…
