An unfortunate turn of a phrase in an early morning tweet by President Trump has some in the media jumping for joy and saying, “He admitted it, he said it!” The President quickly rebutted the error but the “gotcha” reflex by the left continues to provide some filler for media content producers in the absence of more substantive never-Trump silage.
The President’s posted tweet said: “Russia, Russia, Russia! That’s all you heard at the beginning of this Witch Hunt Hoax…And now Russia has disappeared because I had nothing to do with Russia helping me to get elected. It was a crime that didn’t exist. So now the Dems and their partner, the Fake News Media,…..

The misstep was in this phrasing: “I had nothing to do with Russia helping me to get elected.”
Adding to the left’s hysteria was the temporary deletion of at least two tweets. Both reappeared, but the second tweet was reportedly edited to say, “accusation” instead of “acquisition.” The Russia tweet was left alone.
….say he fought back against this phony crime that didn’t exist, this horrendous false accusation, and he shouldn’t fight back, he should just sit back and take it. Could this be Obstruction? No, Mueller didn’t find Obstruction either. Presidential Harassment!

In a parallel vein, the media is embracing a very questionable interpretation of Robert Mueller’s Wednesday statement to mean that Russia helped to get Trump his 2016 election win.
Shortly after the tweet this morning, outside the White House Trump stopped to talk with reporters. When one of them asked about the tweet, he said, “No, Russia did not help me get elected. You know who got me elected? I got me elected. Russia didn’t help me at all.
“Russia, if anything, I think helped the other side. What you ought to ask is this, do you think the media helped Hillary Clinton get elected? She didn’t make it. But you take a look at collusion between Hillary Clinton and the media, you take a look at collusion between Hillary Clinton and Russia, she had more to do in the campaign with Russia than I did and I had nothing to do.
“And by the way, that’s one other thing,” said the President. “If you look, this is all about Russia, Russia, Russia. They don’t talk about Russia anymore because it turned out to be a hoax. It was all a hoax. And then they say gee, he fought back, isn’t that terrible, he fought back. Of course, I fight back because there was a false accusation, a totally false accusation, and it’s a disgrace, and it’s a very — it’s a very sad period for this country. And I think in the end, I will consider what’s happening now to be one of my greatest achievements, exposing this corruption.”
Trump also took a shot at Mueller in his comments, saying the special counsel was “totally conflicted.” The President stated that Mueller wanted to lead the FBI again during the Trump administration.
“He wanted to be FBI director. Mueller should have never been chosen–he wanted the FBI job and didn’t get it and then was picked as special counsel,” said Trump.
