President Donald Trump dropped a major truth bomb on Twitter on Monday evening that supporters are loving.
Trump called out Joe Biden, who is one of many Democrats looking to challenge him for the presidency in 2020, for his involvement in the controversial 1994 Crime Bill, which was signed into law by Bill Clinton.
The bill, which was officially called the Violent Crime Control and Law Enforcement Act, is highly controversial today, even among Democrats. Many have argued the bill is one of the central reasons that criminal justice reform is so needed today.
“Anyone associated with the 1994 Crime Bill will not have a chance of being elected. In particular, African Americans will not be able to vote for you,” the president tweeted.
Trump then rightly praised his administration for making serious progress on criminal justice reform in the last two years, something Democrats and the mainstream media hardly ever give his administration credit for doing.
“I, on the other hand, was responsible for Criminal Justice Reform, which had tremendous support, and helped fix the bad 1994 Bill!” Trump tweeted.
The president then specifically targeted Joe Biden.
“Super Predator was the term associated with the 1994 Crime Bill that Sleepy Joe Biden was so heavily involved in passing. That was a dark period in American History, but has Sleepy Joe apologized? No!” the president tweeted.

At the time of the bill’s passage, Biden sat on the Senate Judiciary Committee and he was instrumental in the creation and the passing of the bill.
The bill made federal sentencing guidelines much stricter and provided massive funds for prisons and law enforcement. While no doubt well intentioned, the bill helped introduce the controversial three strike law — life sentences for repeat felony offenders — and put funding into police and prison programs that were considered more punitive than anything else. Some have blamed the bill for an increase in the nation’s number of incarcerated and negatively affecting low-income neighborhoods and African Americans.
Trump’s “super predator” comment refers to a term floated by Hillary Clinton back in the ’90s in defense of the bill. The comment was seen as insensitive and Clinton faced widespread protests from African Americans and Black Lives Matters activists when she ran for president in 2016.
“I don’t know how you would characterize the gang leaders who got 13-year-old kids hopped on crack and sent them out on the street to murder other African-American children,” said Bill Clinton in 2016 at a Philadelphia campaign stop. He was defending his wife’s comments from a number of African American protestors at the time.
“Maybe you thought they were good citizens. She didn’t,” Clinton added about his wife’s comments. The former president was obviously simplifying the legislation at the time, but the protests highlight a major double standard when it comes to Democrats.
While the president is constantly accused of being a racist by liberals in the media, his actions speak otherwise. The Clintons and Biden, on the other hand, have an abysmal record when it comes to criminal justice reform and their treatment of African Americans, but the media protects them in a way they never will for Trump.
On top of there being an all-time low in unemployment for African Americans currently, Trump signed major criminal justice reform into law late last year. The bipartisan bill helps reduce mandatory minimum sentences for non-violent offenders and makes it easier for well-behaved and reformed prisoners to shorten their time behind bars.
The mainstream media will never give him a pat on the back for it, but Trump has been more serious about criminal justice reform than arguably any other president. In one undeniable example of his commitment to criminal justice reform, Trump pardoned Abby Johnson, a grandmother who was serving a lifetime in prison for a nonviolent drug crime. After a meeting with reality star and criminal justice reform advocate Kim Kardashian, Trump pardoned Johnson, who had spent decades behind bars.

The “Super Predator” bill is almost a dirty little secret Democrats try to talk about as little as possible, but the president is making sure no one forgets. Good for him. With another four years of Trump, it’s likely there could be more real progress on criminal justice reform. With someone like Biden, we’d get nothing but empty words. Luckily, most Americans can see through the nonsense today. It’s why Trump is in the White House after all.
