Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez was dealt a harsh reality check by a meteorologist who fact-checked her “climate crisis” warning after she reacted to a tornado warning in the D.C. area.
The New York Democrat reportedly posted comments on her Instagram account on Thursday after the Washington, D.C. area came under a tornado warning. “This is crazy,” the freshman congresswoman, who has predicted that the climate change emergency leaves humanity only a dozen years to live if it is not solved, said in a livestream video she posted.

“There’s people stuck outside. We need to get them out,” she said.
She followed her video with comments about the “climate crisis” and referred to “casual tornadoes” in her post.
“The climate crisis is real y’all,” she said. “Guess we’re at casual tornadoes in growing regions of the country?”
But meteorologist Ryan Maue quickly schooled the 29-year-old lawmaker, explaining that was she was experiencing was “just the weather.”
I thought this was fake but it’s from @AOC Instagram story.
No idea what she means with “casual tornadoes” and how this line of severe thunderstorms is proof of any “climate crisis”.

The National Weather Service issued the warning Thursday as an intense storm brought heavy rains and wind into the area. No tornado was reported in the immediate area but the potential for the severe weather prompted the warnings which were shared on social media.

Tornado warning, DC. Seek shelter immediately. Do not drive. Lowest floor interior room… for downtown Washington and surroundings. Stay away from windows. https://t.co/bZSrmjgOo2

“Different parts of the country deal with different climate issues,” Ocasio-Cortez wrote.
“But ALL of these threats will be increasing in intensity as climate crisis grows and we fail to act appropriately. #GreenNewDeal,” she added, referring to her signature policy proposal which seeks to eliminate greenhouse gas emissions in a decade.
But, as Maue pointed out in a follow-up tweet, Ocasio-Cortez just “does not know the difference between weather and climate.”
“Let’s try an easy analogy,” he tweeted. “Weather is what outfit you wear heading out the door. Climate is your closet wardrobe.”
The Congresswoman @AOC does not know the difference between weather and climate.

Ocasio-Cortez also noted that tornadoes are “challenging” to tie to global warming, adding that “we DO know for sure that tornadoes HAVE been changing,” as she cited a PBS article that stated tornadoes are “sliding into the Midwest and Southeast.”
Twitter users continued to mock the self-proclaimed Democratic socialist for her alarmist video.

Right, she has no idea either, but she knows that most of her adoring fans will march in tune with her inanities.— Frankie P (@pantangeli) May 24, 2019
What if you head indoors for safety, but upon entering the kitchen you are confronted by a garbage disposal and a bowl of cauliflower?
So much danger, and only 12 years to do something about it.

Dear AOC: The Washington DC area gets on average five tornados a year. I admire your passion but you really are exploiting nonsensically, a bad weather day.
